"The pros are that (1) you have a better chance to stay clean and sober than being on your own or out on the street, (2) you have a roof over your head, and (3) you get breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an evening snack free of charge. But Here's Help only engendered in me resentment and a feeling that I was wasting my time. Read more to know why I feel that way. At pretty much every rehab, you are allowed to work after staying there for thirty days, and to call friends and family at any time during daytime hours. At Here's Help, as of 2023, you cannot work during your entire time there, the rationale behind that being (1) you'll get COVID and spread it to clients and staff and (2) the possibility that you'll smuggle in contraband upon returning. Those justifications don't hold water though, because (a) staff leaves every day and they can bring COVID into the facility, (b) clients are allowed to go to medical appointments and court and return, potentially with COVID in incubation, and (c) guests are allowed in and who knows what transmissible viruses they're harboring. The problem with their issue on passes (i.e. the privilege to leave the facility to work, visit friends or family, etc.) and smuggle in contraband is that it happens anyway. Someone can drop something off near the facility's perimeter, say, near the dumpster, which is not monitored by camera, and a client can pick it up. It could be anything, candy, vapes, weapons, drugs... Also, they allow Suboxone, which is an opiate, and those who take it sometimes trade it. On the phone call policy, you are allowed ONE supervised half-hour phone call or Zoom session per week. You can be on the phone all day every day at other rehabs or in jail. Chew on that for a minute. One thing I found positively maddening is that their therapy team - to me - is unprofessional. Their clinical director, a LMHC, has no medical background. And she is, by her own admission, sarcastic, and she plays favorites. For someone dealing with addicts who usually suffer from mental health issues, she's too exclusive, unctuous, and has an infallible air to her. The therapists she supervises are young who, while they hold master's degrees and seem to mean well, have very little experience. And none of them, to my knowledge, has been through the hell that is addiction. At most rehabs, the staff has at least a handful or so of recovering addicts who are now helping others as social workers or counselors. Last but not least, they serve both minors and adults. And while adults can be woefully infantile, nothing compares to the not-fully-formed mind of a juvenile delinquent. And should conflict arise, and an adult gets into a fight with a minor, you have on your hands a very unpleasant situation like a jail sentence and lawsuit. So in summation, go anywhere else. The food might not be as good, but you'll preserve your dignity, or that of whomever you care about."

"Horrible place. The guy that runs the place Antuan sellers, knows nothing about recovery and is very arrogant. You will be made to feel even worse about your life when he lectures and belittles you everyday for hours. They shave your head and don't help with anything, unless Anke likes you and shows favoritism towards you . But the majority of clients gets no help and no rest. From 7am to 10pm you will be out of the dorms, locked, and working or watching movies. Smoke breaks are limited and could be cancelled for days at a time. Go somewhere else , your life is important and precious."
