"Unfortunately we selected a therapist that wasn’t the RIGHT fit but felt in couples counseling like she was very one sided and barely was open to our interpretation verses hers of our relationship… she tried to spin our session about her experience and not wanting to get stuck in our dynamic when literally she did not help with who was supposed to be talking or explain very well. I do not think she was trained on abuse and trauma incidences and that’s ok, but she should’ve asked us more about our relationship history before hurting either me or my boyfriend in the process. It felt like she kept diving deeper for no good reason when someone says hey I’m uncomfortable you should listen and not just to the other party! I’m very well versed with speaking and psychology and I genuinely had good intentions but felt like I was picked on last session and she had told me that she’d ask my boyfriend the same questions and she never did and promised NEXT session we’d do that. Well that never came. We are choosing a different therapist. Felt like there was more damage done than good. We picked a student intern and probably should’ve chosen different. I think there was some reverse psychology done in session to try and make us not keep going to session. Whatever it was - it was unethical and rude and disrespectful to the therapeutic relationship. I’ve never in my years of therapy been told we’d go over something and NEVER DID. Think before choosing any therapist at this center.. I think we should’ve done a consultation first. Very untrustworthy process and speaking to my boyfriend he felt weird during sessions too, maybe due to the topics but he kept feeling like she didn’t pick on him for much either.. and that was very off putting and already setting us up for unequal talking time."
