"I developed endometriosis and an ovarian cyst, so I trusted and sought regular treatment from the GYN that I trusted (Dr. Jones). My appointments became (frequent) weekly/bi-weekly as my symptoms progressed and my last in-office appointment with Dr. Jones was on a Friday (sent me home with a script for my condition) with instructions to make an appointment to comeback next week. I was in the emergency room on Sunday, because my Mother saw me deteriorating. My mother contacted another GYN at the practice (who’d performed her hysterectomy; he was on the hospital board at time, I believe). He had me in emergency surgery on Monday morning! It pains me to think of what would have happened, if my mother and I would’ve waited for another doctors appointment, instead of taking me to the hospital. Mind you this was well over a decade ago, however the consequences of the medical care I received, culminated in the need for an emergency hysterectomy and a week in the hospital battling sepsis for my life. My thanks to the consultation/treatment of another highly qualified physician/colleague of Dr. Jones and the diligence of the nurses at Brandon Regional in aiding my recovery. I’m thankful to be alive and healthy due to the efforts of her colleagues (minus my ability to conceive and intensive early onset menopause). I will never have a biological child of my own. I’ve no doubt that the good doctor has helped many women throughout the years and that they are very happy with her skills. I’m simply not one of them and decided to tell my story.
