About the Business
New Tampa Aikido is a health institution located at 5615 Gray Road, Wesley Chapel, Florida, United States. Our classes focus on tightening up the slack, toughening the body, and polishing the spirit through the practice of Aikido. Our schedule includes Body Arts/Weapons (Advanced) on Tuesdays, Aikido Weapons (All Levels) and Body Arts (All Levels) on Wednesdays, and Aikido Weapons (All Levels) on Saturdays. Our instructor, Hernandez Sensei, is a 5th Dan certified instructor with extensive training experience in Japan, Spain, and the United States. Founded in 2010, New Tampa Aikido offers both body arts and weapons classes without restrictions. Join us to improve your physical and mental well-being through the practice of Aikido.

Don't think that because class is held at the Y that this is anything less than serious, traditional Aikido. Hernandez Sensei (4th degree black belt) and Reid Sensei (3rd degree black belt) are both phenomenal teachers with many years of experience, extremely generous and with a true passion to share this art. Beginners are made very welcome and it's easy for new people to get started. And as much as you put into the training here as you grow and gain experience---you will definitely get that much back and then some. The fact that this class is included (free) with a Y membership is just insane. If you joined the Y just to take this class it costs half as much as joining a stand-alone dojo, plus you get everything else that the Y has to offer. New Tampa Aikido is truly a hidden gem in the Bay Area Aikido community."
