"The policy when it comes to having insurance and not being able to receive a refund due to a mitigating circumstance is crazy. Its like whats the point of paying for something that you cant use? Case in point. I had an upcoming cruise with Royal Caribbean and I was planning to use Dialysis at Sea as I am on Hemodialysis. Not too long ago, I receive a life changing call that I have a Kidney donor and that I had to prep for surgery. The recovery would occur during the sailing period so not only could I not sail, I wouldn't need the service anymore. I called and spoke to Brandie Debroux who is the manager who booked my cruise, but when I told her about cancelling, and asking for a refund, It was a different tune. The fact that I didn't cruise, nor has the cruise even occurred with the fact I purchased insurance and the pushback about giving me a refund was baffling. It's like giving free money away. The fact that I was charged 1500$ for an administrative fee was crazy in itself. Who charges that much to book a cruise? I can call myself for free. The fact that the cruise itself was only 1964$, the admin fee was 75% the amount of the cruise and I was charged almost 4500$ for Dialysis, for an 8 day cruise. All of it is messed up simply because I can no longer go due to surgery and recovery. But If I don't get my money back, I plan to sue the company, because there is fair, and then there is downright madness. I would not recommend their services. I would rather take my own machine like I did on a Royal Caribbean cruise in the past. Yes It is cumbersome, but less costly than this option. plus if you do home hemodialysis like I have, its convenient as you can plan your times to dialyze as opposed to the times they set for you which can be inconvenient to say the least. The positive is that I am getting a kidney, but at the expense of having a company take advantage of not going on a trip which should be an easy fix. But money grubbing companies will find reasons to keep your hard earned money even when you haven't used the service."
