"Terrible place if you’re a student with Liberty University and utilizing VA education benefits. The leadership is terrible and are extremely clueless about what’s happening. All they care about are the Air Force ROTC contracts. The ROTC program gets all the good planes and has a bunch of additional ones serving as “backup”. Even if you’re doing Part 141 training and have deadlines that must be met, they don’t care about them. I made the mistake of enrolling with AMS and doing Instrument Rating with them. I’m a Liberty student utilizing the VA Education Benefits. I couldn’t get the stage checks scheduled because the only guy that does the stage checks was “busy “ flying the ROTC cadets. This was super surprising to me because there were always a handful of other CFIs sitting around doing nothing. Didn’t make sense that the only person qualified to do the stage checks was flying around with a bunch of ROTC cadets. Even after waiting for a month to do a stage check, I couldn’t be put in a IFR equipped plane. Those were always reserved for the ROTC students doing their Private Pilot Training. Even after getting the stage checks accomplished, the same person refused to the End Of Course check. I had to wait for the Chief Pilot to do it. The Chief Pilot is a high school teacher and is never around. After 3 class extensions, I was advised to retake the Instrument course with a different FTA. I don’t recommend taking any 141 Courses with AMS, better of going somewhere else."

"An excellent flight school. 141 compliant, reasonable rates, great fuel prices, outstanding maintenance shop, and very knowledgeable, friendly folks. Trusted by both military and multiple universities -- a great place to consider whether you're just getting started in aviation, getting a new cert / add-on, or just looking for a place to tie down your plane and have some coffee."

"I am about 15 hours into my Part 61 private license, and I have to say these folks are great. From the linemen, to the instructors. Everyone has been very supportive, and helpful. The big kudos go to my instructor Zach. V. I hope someone from the school reads this. Zach is very knowledgeable, he is patient, and truly a great teacher. He is the type of guy that builds your confidence, but balances it, with feedback on the areas that need improvement. I am grateful to have him as my CFI. Zach goes out of his way to help other students, as well as myself, even when he is off the clock. I can tell he is passionate about what he does, and genuinely wants to help others become better aviators."

"Not user friendly to the general civilian flyer Unresponsive to squawks concerning their aircraft. Unable to communicate on a collegial level about problems. Felt they were arrogant and condescending. Scheduling is quirky with no accountability and oversight by management. Appointments hard to get and cancelled without warning. Your time is seemingly not important."

"This is a great airport. The staff is friendly and helpful. All of their instructors are very knowledgeable. Many of the instructors have several years of experience with major and regional airlines. If you want a top notch program at a great value I highly suggest AMS Aviation."
