"We've just been there for 6 months but so far it's all good. My son is happier than in previous schools and he says it's his favorite. The atmosphere is very "outdoorsy" as he says and academically it's completely different from Hillsborough county but I feel more competitive (my son struggled in the beginning cause of all the technology and math work). Teacher responded to every email within less than two hours and communication has been EXCELLENT. Mr Simmons in 4th grade has been amazing. This school is usually underestimated by parents outside of the school zone. Once you are in there, it's all great."

"I was yelled at by a teacher doing parking attendant duties. Mind you there are no labels and it was an open parking spot not reserved for anything. I thought it might just be one person having an off day, but ever since then I have had many occasions where the different staff exhibit the same culture of rudeness with a condescending attitude. Just be polite to people! Parents don't all get your internal rules and principles because we don't attend there. Further some staff at this school actually coddle my kid's bad behavior and set him up against their parents! Some of the staff in this school have a messiah complex rather than work cooperatively with us. They don't listen to us and think they know what's best for our kids! I am simply appalled with some of the staff at this school."

"My son is in Kindergarten this year and we have been thrilled with the school. Great programs and even a fun, healthy fund raiser (Big World Recess). He was in a private VPK environment and I was nervous about the transition to a big public school, but Oakstead has great leadership and lots of help from staff and volunteers. The teachers are fantastic. He has Mrs Sprague and he has blossomed in her class and I can't believe how much he has learned!! I feel like he is safe and cared for every day. Oakstead really nutures the children and help them be there best selves."
