Reviews
"I decided to give this doctor a chance even though the reviews were low. I quickly learned the reviews are accurate however. I had to wait over two hours just for the doctor to be in the room for about 5 seconds. My concerns were basically not addressed at all. I also feel like the doctor didn’t trust me when I was asked personal questions. This was my first visit to the OBGYN and the doctor did not even explain any of the exams being performed. Once the exam was finished, I was informed that I would have to drive 20 minutes to get an ultrasound and blood work. This was after already wasting 3 hours of my day. I was charged a $20 copay for basically nothing. I am borderline traumatized and will not be revisiting this office."
"First, the office looks great on the outside, but in reality, it is overcrowded with patients who have to wait an hour to hours to be seen even though they have appointment times. Nurses are very polite, but Dr. Obiekwe is very rude and nonchalant when asking about concerns and having general questions. She mostly refuses to answer and, most of the time, just walks out laughing or saying absolutely nothing. She performed procedures incorrectly(according to other obgyns that I have talked to since) and unnecessary. Her office, compared to the office I went to during my second pregnancy(I went to her for my first in 2018), was just cold and unwelcome. You stayed in an exam room for at least 30 minutes to an hour. She treated you like you weren't even a person. The birthing process was the biggest red flag. I didn't show any signs of complications or anything at all to warrant an induction. But right when I hit my 36-week mark(it was a friday), she wanted to do an induction with 5 of her other patients. The morning came into the hospital for the induction, and the nurses were a bit frantic. After making a light conversation with one of them, she said something that gave us a lot of concern. She said that Dr. Obiekwe scheduled all 6 of us to be induced all at the same time because she had a 2 week vacation she had planned starting that following Saturday. So, the nurses were frantic because that's more than they should have at once, and it was hard for them to handle that many patients being induced at once. But being my first pregnancy, I didn't understand the severity of that. But I learned later why that can be so dangerous. After a couple hours of pushing( which the doctor wasn't there for during any of it just a nurse) when his head started to come out finally I was told I had to just hold it in at that position. Apparently, the nurses have to have a doctor present during the time the baby is actually coming out. It took her 30 mins to finish up with the other 6 patients she had during that time. It was an incredibly unnatural feeling to hold like that. As well as painful. When she finally showed up, she just stated, pulling his head and telling me to hurry up and finish pushing because she needed to go to another patient. She ended up only being there for about 5 mins. It didn't take long to finish pushing him out. Then she immediately started to stitch me up. What I didn't know at the time was that she didn't pull out all the placenta. I also was never checked down there again after being stitched( unlike my 2nd birth where I was checked multiple times after by the doctor). That Friday night when she stitched me up was the last time she saw me. She was gone on vacation by Saturday morning and never saw me again until I went back to her office for my first check-up. But after a week after giving birth, I was back in the hospital after my whole body went into sepsis, and everything started to shut down on me. After a rush to the hospital in an ambulance, they were able to find the cause and remove the placenta that was left inside me by Dr. Obiekwe. The placenta caused an infection that entered my bloodstream and proceeded to shut down everything. I was very close to death from what I was told, and the hospital even suggested to my fiance to make calls to my family so they could make possible last goodbyes to me. At the time, I didn't understand fully what happened and how much Dr. Obiekwe was responsible for. I just had my second child this past December, and the overall experience was day and night compared to the first. I am so thankful to the wonderful obgyns I have had experience with for my second, and they really shed light on how dangerous Dr. Obiekwe really is. I hope one day she isn't allowed to keep putting patients' lives at stake."
"I have been to Dr. Obiekwe a few times and I always loved her. However, due to the amount of time that I had to wait in the waiting room each time (seriously well over an hour!), I had to find someone else. I tried to make an appt with her recently for a specific issue and not a yearly visit & I was told that "if you leave, you can't come back" and they would not let me make an appointment or be a patient again. Even though my daughter goes to her, I can't. Is this a common practice??"
"I had surgery today and could not ask for a better obgyn Dr and staff. They treated me like family and I'm greatful for all she did for me from listening to my issues and concerns. She is such amazing person and I thank her from the bottom of my heart ."
"Love my new Obgyn office! Never had an issue with them. Very accommodating and friendly. Very Knowledgeable and caring. They always have time and courtesy for their patients. The office is clean nice and up to date. You can always get an appointment within a few days instead of waiting for months like my last Gyno. I love this place. Thank you"
