"I attended CCS from Pre-K through 12th Grade, and I can say without a doubt that I would not be who I am today without the experiences, community, teaching, and hardships that I was able to experience throughout my time there. I am extremely grateful that my parents chose to enroll me there from the start, and even I had the choice to go somewhere else, I knew this was where I wanted to be. CCS is full of godly, loving teachers, and boasts a curriculum that is rigorous, personal, and growing more diverse each year. In addition to the academics, CCS provides intentional spiritual formation through biblical studies, and introduction to and development of leadership skills. The Leadership Program and the Senior Leader Program are two of the things that make Community Christian High School so unique. Through learning and practicing leadership principles in the context of the outdoors, serving their community in various ways, and mastering basic survival skills, students are equipped to lead others and thrive(not just survive) in the real world. All of this also strengthens bonds between peers, gives opportunities for upperclassmen to mentor lowerclassmen, and forges a feeling of community within the high school. The Senior Leader Program takes all of that one step further, giving emerging young leaders the chance to test themselves, develop their leadership skills, and take on greater responsibilities within the leadership program, and also within the school environment. All that being said, CCS is not for everyone, and it is unlikely that a student will enjoy their time there if they are unwilling to put in the effort required to grow, and to have a positive mental attitude while doing so. However, any student who remains open to challenge and development, and who meets every obstacle knowing that his peers are beside him and God is with them going through the same thing, is sure to reap the plentiful rewards that CCHS has to offer. I would not give up the experience I had in my years at CCS for anything, and I am proud that I am still able to call it home."
"I called CCS home for 12 years of my life. I graduated in 2017, and since then have missed this school dearly. My life long friends were made here, my ability to think independently and have God honoring conversations was cultivated here, and the idea of helping others and leading a team was taught to me at this school. My class at CCS meant the world to me and still does. My mother went through many medical ailments throughout my childhood and educational journey and without CCS I do not know if I would have made it through. I live in Jacksonville now, a sophomore in college. I go to Tallahassee just to visit CCS. Since leaving I have not had the opportunity to play sports and perform in the arts, CCS let me pursue my passions. When I go back to CCS I am welcomed home like a child being welcomed back into a family. I love this school with all my heart, and God’s hand is truly on it."
"If I could give this school a 0 star rating, I definitely would. I was the farthest away from God while attending Community Christian School (CCS). This school doesn't display "Christian" values which I would think to be along of the lines of love, discipleship, and kindness. Instead I felt like CCS demonstrated hatred, discrimination, and animosity. I constantly felt judged and different because of my diverse outer appearance and thoughts. I was a self-proclaimed Christian going into the school, but I had questions. I studied many other philosophies and religions. I liked to be informed and educated of other religious cultures and histories and I felt like that wasn't ok. I often decided to keep quiet instead. I couldn't understand how teachers could single out certain students -- show favoritism & even nepotism, and then supposedly "incorporate" the goodness of God into their lesson plan or nod their heads in agreeance at the Friday chapel. I couldn't understand more how the students could be so racist, so exclusive, and so disrespectful to each other. There was literally a student who I never saw disciplined for saying constantly, "get back in that kitchen," as if he were a slave owner of the two other black students and I. And he always made comments out loud and in front of teachers about our "horse hair." I shadowed CCS before I began to officially attend the school. And you know what? Everyone knows how to play "the part" when students shadow. There is a specific student chosen purposefully to show prospective guests the "CCS experience." The teachers are all VERY welcoming and the students seem to take it upon themselves to introduce each other to you, talk to you about the "atmosphere," try to find things in common with you, and it looks great. When in reality, I felt like the teachers couldn't care less about my treatment or experience. And the students weren't much of a step up either. But even outside of the social scene, CCS needs to expand educationally. They need to offer more diverse classes. Not everyone wants to take Spanish. Art and theatre electives would be lovely -- bringing together students in different grades because of a similar interest. Technology courses that help acquire certifications in things like Microsoft Office or photoshop through Certiport. Culinary Arts! Having no choice for in school classes is ridiculous. That forces the student to take online classes which results in even less teacher & student interaction. To be quite frank, I understand that CCS can't control what type of students apply there, but they can control who works there. There's seems to be no encouragement for diversity of cultures or races of the faculty & staff. Expensive tuition doesn't guarantee a quality experience. If anything, going to a school that doesn't promote a Christian lifestyle directly, forces one to be practical about real life scenarios and doesn't shelter people from real life. And that's school's intention: preparation for life in all aspects -- educationally, socially, mentally. I would advise seeking preparation for your child elsewhere."
