"Our oldest daughter just started in the 3's class at The language Garden— this is her second year here. Our youngest is set to attend the 2's class this winter after her birthday. We all really adore this little forest school. As first time parents, my husband and I were nervous about our two year old starting preschool and being out of our sight— but at the same time were eager for her to socialize with peers (covid baby!) and have experiences outside our family unit. Those worries evaporated after her fist day. The teachers and director here are all so patient, nurturing, communicative and just overall, wonderful human beings. When our daughter went through a biting phase it was handled so gracefully, on all ends. I was really impressed with the language they used to help her work through that behavior and also the support they gave me because to be honest I was a wreck about it! That brings me to another thought, they are not only educators but many mom's and dad's themselves and are ALL people I look up to for parenting advice in this season of life. The outdoor, play-based program could not be a better fit for our family. Our active child comes home with all the markings of an adventurous day, smiling and ready for a very SOLID nap. The families who's children attend this school are from all walks of life but share a certain energy and approach to parenting. We feel lucky to be a part of this community."
"We have had a great experience at the Language Garden this past year. My child leaves happy and tired every day. The teachers have all been extremely kind and caring. I believe they do a great job fostering an environment to love the outdoors, explore, have fun, make friends, and live a healthy lifestyle. My son is intrigued by things and has become quite the conversationalist this year. I believe he is thriving here. It’s very possible he may have sand in his shoes or a little leftover paint on his shirt when I pick him up. I appreciate the exposure to different activities and letting children learn in a unique setting before they enter years of formal schooling. The program has been very enjoyable for us as a family too.. it seems to attract easy-going and likable parents and the atmosphere is very relaxed."
"Not as advertised. This is an outdoor daycare with incidental/passive educational value. Lacks structure, curriculum, and communication. After 6mos we pulled our child from attending. If I'm nice about it, these people are well-intentioned but incapable of fostering good social and educational environments. If I'm direct, this place is a joke and would encourage anyone that's considering sending their kids here to ask a LOT of questions about what the kids do daily and don't take anything on their website literally. If you want your kid to go outside, play, and make tea out of pine needles on the ground, this is definitely a place for you. If you want your kids to be guided through social scenarios and play; and have cursory preparation for Kindergarten. Or you want parent/teacher conferences, school photos, and/or crafts (like most every other program has)....then DO NOT consider this an option."
"Our son loved his experience here. He was there for 2 years, 5 days a week. We had great, kind teachers, and the environment was beautiful. I felt like the kids were always calm, happy and free to play from their hearts."
"Very cool. Great place for kids to explore, especially when it can be difficult to get enough nature time in the city."
