"Used this service when the IRS sent notices of additional taxes due for 2015/16 reference some mutual funds on tax returns I had previously filed. Mr. Allen filed a 1040X and billed for his services which I promptly paid. IRS denied the basis Mr. Allen used when filing the 1040X. When I contacted Mr. Allen, Mr. Allen, rather than file a revised schedule or better yet research why the IRS denied his basis, Mr. Allen stated that I should just pay the IRS what they asked for as that would be the easiest approach.. When I questioned Mr. Allen he replied with totally unrelated reasons and amounts that he stated the IRS was requesting. When I contacted the IRS the IRS stated that Mr. Allen's assertions of amounts due were incorrect and his reasoning as to why the taxes had been assessed were irrelevant to the amounts the IRS was seeking and the basis the IRS was using. The situation became hostile when I asked Mr. Allen for a reimbursement of the taxes due, (which was less that what I had paid Mr. Allen). At first Mr. Allen stated that I had not paid him (have canceled checks to show I paid) and then stated that sometimes the IRS accepts work and sometimes it doesn't. I don't believe that to be a professional answer to a client's legitimate question. I believe this was a tax situation that could have been resolved had Mr. Allen taken the time to question the IRS as to the rationale for the IRS decision to deny his work. Rather than stand behind and warranty his work like every other accountant I have used over the last 40 years, Mr. Allen, after he had been paid, said just pay whatever the IRS wants."
