"First time to try this place and we loved it! I'm so happy it's so close to our house and now we have a local favorite to go to! I was looking for a local, home style breakfast place and we found it. The owners are really sweet and are a family operated business. The husband is cooking and the wife is at the counter. The staff are very kind and attentive and I could tell they knew their regulars. The food was hot and fresh and everything was delicious. The biscuit was just what I was looking for!! Hot and slightly crispy on the outside and super fluffy and soft on the inside. I like that they had a variety of jams and different creamers to choose from. The grits were perfect and they had a great little lunch bar that we might try another time."

"One of the last true American diners. Fresh food, great service, down-home atmosphere, and breakfast served all day. There are plenty of hipster-trendy spots around the corner in Duluth - and they are great - but this place is the real deal. Excellent food, basic American menu, and service with a smile where they stop and talk to you because they care. It's not trendy, but it ought to be. You won't be disappointed."

"I have been here many times. The food is good and i can't say enough about how great the serving staff is. The person at the register was rude and tried to embarrassed me. I was basically accused of trying to steal and was given a lecture about how they have bills and the quality of their food. They even thought it was necessary to get a customer involved. I paid 24$ with a "discount" for a small portioned meal with a not ever deserved lecture on top. My family was so disappointed to hear this especially since this happened to me of all people. We liked having them in our rotation as we eat out almost every meal. We will no longer eat at The Family Restaurant and no good recommendations will be given for them anymore. Luckily there is a similar place next door that we will use instead."

"My son found this place for our weekend brunch. What a hidden gem! The owner Kenny had been running this place for eight years. He chatted with us quite a while and shared with us how selective he is in picking the ingredients and the special attention he puts in preparing and cooking the meals. I am impressed by his passion and honor. We will definitely come back again and try many other dishes that he talked about with us."

"Great breakfast place. Pancakes were awesome, great taste and huge. Loved the sausage gravy and biscuit. Price is right as well, less than $10. Very friendly people. Been here twice in one week. Good way to start the day."
