Birria El Gordo

"Drove almost an hour to get to the place because I follow it on Instagram and wanted to try the birria and Spiked Aguas Frescas since it looked so good on their reels. I feel like I would have given it a better rating but the girl at the counter was NOT nice, helpful, friendly, or welcoming. I let my sister do the talking because I wasn’t trying to ruin her day. From the moment we got there, she gave us the attitude of “hurry up and order.” Then we asked about the spiked aguas frescas and she said she had no clue what we were talking about. So we had to pull up Instagram to show her and she proceeds to say “I don’t follow the page and what they post” (which is poor training on the management part). I was shocked at the price $12 for a spiked agua fresca, but I didn’t care if it was good but it wasn’t. I feel like it has the makings of a good drink but clearly the “bartender” wasn’t trained on how to make a proper drink. The Horchata with Hennessy was good though. The Jamaica with Herradura tasted watered down. The Pina with animador was good, and the frozen margarita was nasty. We ordered Birria nachos, and to be honest it looked very good and did taste good but I think we were just so full on drinks that we couldn’t finish the food and it didn’t knock out socks off but I would try it again. I wasn’t a fan of the loud reggaeton music nonstop either, it just wasn’t the vibe but that’s just me and wouldn’t stop me from visiting a place I enjoy. Overall, I think it was the ambiance and customer service that earned the poor experience and rating."

"The menu will be confusing for the first time, then after that it gets easier. Servers will explain anything on the menu and will help you if needed. Tacos are great and the beef side dip soup is a must try. Food is great and you have to try it all."

"Went to this place by recommendation from a friend and it has become a favorite. Food is always fresh, there are plenty of toppings available, the people get your food out quick, and it tastes authentic. My only gripe is that most of the meals come with chips and I personally prefer rice. But I guess every place has thier specialty side item! Prices are also very reasonable"

"Came in here for the first time to finally try the Birria. I chose goat as my meat, got my buzzer that alerts me with my food is ready and sat down. Wait seemed a bit long to get my food as though it was not crowded, the wait was definitely worth it. Food is definitely fresh, delicious, and absolutely does not seem like your normal restaurant food. Fresh, hot, tasty. The salsa bar is fantastic and they have a variety of sauces from mild to burn your face off. The burn your face off is definitely delicious. All in all I will definitely come back. Probably way too often."

"This restaurant was just okay but not worth my 40 min drive. The Quesadila was delicious, chips were nasty. Hubby ordered tacos. They were small but tasty. The salsa bar was nice but didn't see anything that I would eat. The Auga Loca watermelon was delicious.. it came with fresh waterlmon on top. You can buy a shot for $8 but wasn't worth it to me. The quesabirria balls were $12 for 2 and came with a nasty pickle tasting slaw. It also came with a flavorless sauce that didn't pair well. The shell on the ball was very hard, didn't have much cheese. The goat inside was delicious but overall not a hit. The churro sundae was blah... ice cream didn't have much flavor, very little carmel and just a few nuts. Do not go out of your way but worth a try. We would not go back. They are pricey spent over $40."
