High Falls State Park

"My husband and I, along with our two dogs, went camping at Reed Bingham State Park in mid-November. One of our fellow campers suggested that we check out the nearby High Falls State Park, and we're so glad we did. The cascading water and fall foliage were breathtaking. There are two trails available to traverse the river. The longer hike consists of a series of wooden staircases that lead to various viewing platforms, allowing you to see the cascades at eye level and below. The second half of the trail involves a steep climb and a hike back through the forest above the river. The forest trail has lots of rocks and roots, so hiking sticks will be useful. After that, you can cross the river and walk along an easy boardwalk that offers stunning views from above the falls. It's important to note that this is a cascading waterfall, meaning it doesn't have a steep drop but rather cascades over large boulders and bedrock for a 135-foot rolling drop to the base. The entire experience is peaceful and awe-inspiring. We enjoyed it so much that we plan to go back and camp there again."

"We stayed five nights in early January 2024, we were in site 03 on the Riverside Campground. We had a great time and the park was very well maintained and monitored. The check in process was perfect, prepared and executed with pride and professionalism. We had some heavy rain and high winds during our stay, the Park Rangers and Camp Hosts were very involved in our safety and keeping us informed. The only negative is the lack of any cell service, there was WIFI at the park office during the day and cell service was usable at the Dollar General just outside the campground gate. Another great stay at a Georgia State Park."

"We stopped driving from Atlanta to the Florida Panhandle. We went to the first entrance, where the general store is. There are TWO falls. The one you can see from the road. Then there is another seen from the high and easy trail, or seen from the bottom on the longer, more strenuous trail. Since we we traveling, we did the easy trail, and I'm still happy with my views."

"We love to go to High Falls State Park. There are plenty of places to picnic. They also have picnic tables very close to the handicapped parking. They have miniatute golf and a playground for the kiddos. They have a great walking trail that is well marked. They rent canoes and paddle boats. The paddle boats look like miniature pontoon boats. The sound of the water is beautiful. There are also plenty of places to go camping. There is a store just across the highway in case you forgot something."
