Wilder Tower, located on Glenn-Viniard Road in Chickamauga, Georgia, is a popular tourist attraction within the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The 85-foot tower, completed in 1903, is home to the Wilder Brigade Monument, dedicated to Union Colonel John Wilder's Lightning Brigade. The brigade was known for their use of the 7-shot Spencer repeating rifle, which was a game-changer during the Civil War.

Visitors are allowed to climb to the top of the tower via a narrow, winding staircase with 136 steps, leading to an open-air observation deck. The tower is closed during certain times of the year and in bad weather conditions. The view from the top offers a glimpse of the surrounding forest and nearby monuments and cannons.

In addition to the Wilder Brigade Monument, there are other monuments made of granite and metal, as well as informational panels scattered throughout the area. "We had time to kill before we could check in to our cabin so I found this place on Google Maps. It was such a huge place and I can’t imagine the history here. It puts your thoughts into perspective walking grounds where so many lost their lives. The tower was exceptionally taller than I expected. Going up the stairs was quite a hike but the view at top was worth it. You’re better off making sure you don’t have to use the restroom there. It’s pretty much a smelly outhouse with no sink or trash can. In fact, I couldn’t find a garbage can anywhere that I walked."

"There are a lot of steps to the top but we got there. Didn't get to enjoy the view very long because we got attacked by wasps and my wife got stung several times. Still a five star experience though."

"Been here many times. To get to the top of this 85-foot tower, you must climb the 136-step spiral staircase, that for some seems to never end. But the view once on top is totally worth it! It’s a really cool location for family pictures, or just enjoying the scenery. Definitely a cool place to check out if you’re looking for something to do!"

"We visited this Tower today at the Battlefield in Georgia. Today was a beautiful day to be outside the weather was amazing. Our family met up here to take photos. Such a interesting place and today the today was open to walk up to the top. Amazing. A must place to stop and visit. Lots of history here."
