"Atmosphere is really the killer, your sitting literally next to other people. Can't help but to hear very Cleary others conversations. The menu is weird, just call appetizers appetizers.. and the food was good but nothing to write home about . And certainly not worth the asking price."

"Hoping it was an isolated bad day but when it is service, food quality and 22 people in “upscale” restaurant, it’s extra disappointing. I never like to leave a bad review. But feel a responsibility to tell it like it is when I use reviews as well. Start with food, our entire group got overly charred chicken sandwiches and overly charred hamburgers. Grilled chicken couldn’t be eaten in sandwiches as you couldn’t bite it, so tomato sandwich with a side of burnt chicken. A request was made for additional mayo (as the chicken was dry). After waiting for it to arrive, using mustard that was on the table. Surprised to find $1 charge for extra mayo on the wrong bill, not exactly “upscale” action, no big deal, but another reflection of restaurant attitude. Request for steak in sandwich to be cooked medium was denied because steak was “cut up”.??? Our group enjoyed the sides of salad and fries. A couple of orders of duck & fig pizzas were enjoyed. Service: Reservations for 22 probably made 3 weeks in advance on what the restaurant considered slower Tuesday lunch 1130. Disappointment started in seating. Required us to sit apart even tables for 2 when many other options were suggested by us at the time, with completely open tables for the duration of our time there. Anyone ever go with a group and be seated in a table for 2? When the restaurant is completely open? Not even allowing the table for 2 to be adjoined to a table for 4 beside it? Totally unacceptable at any level, certainly in “upscale”environment. Please understand, we didn’t expect to be seated all together. They offer that for a fee of $250. We expected tables for 4 or larger. We didn’t expect food to arrive together for anyone and it didn’t. It was comical to receive our checks with 22% gratuity added to it automatically since I guess we reserved as a group. Even tho we were seated in 2s and 4s. Totally shocking in Thomasville with a plethora of great upscale restaurants. I hope you have a better experience and I hope the restaurant learns. Maybe they will even respond here. AND SINCE THEY DID RESPOND, please note, we gladly accepted the opportunity to sit at smaller tables. Have enjoyed many other restaurants in just this style. Just NEVER expected to get 3 tables for just 2 people!!! which was not fine… and 4 tables for 4 people, which was fine. Really people like to eat together, when they arrive together… never put a group of guests at tables of 2 people. If you do, be flexible to slide that table to the table of 4 right next to them. So sad we tried to make that all happen, to lost ears. If you can’t do that, you may want to advise that to people in advance. If 6 people make a reservation, tell them they may not sit together and see how that works for you. Seems like this should not be something to address with management in an “upscale” restaurant. So if 7 more people added to the reservation made it impossible to handle, we should have been advised. You had PLENTY of staff. No complaints with any of them. The mention of the tip automatically added was because it was the only thing that told us you knew we were a group and it was comical. We certainly don’t mind paying 22%. Regarding sending the food back: We didn’t consider to send all our food back because at our table of 4, 3 out of 3, every sandwich ordered was burnt to non-enjoyable and I cannot imagine a whole table sending their food back. We were trying to salvage whatever we could of our lunch and trying to be pleasant after already knowing the unpleasant attitude of the restaurant in the seating ordeal we had just been through. One or the other would have been bad. But the double whammy of both situations… added to the price we were paying of $21 for a “upscale” hamburger and french fries, looking forward nice restaurant experience for weeks, it just needs to be shared and the restaurant needs to learn to be more accommodating to their guests. It’s not about the money charged, it’s about the mentality and of course, the food."

"Had reservations for 4 to celebrate an anniversary and birthday. Seated at a nice corner table quickly, but from that point on, it was a challenge to stay positive. Without going into detail about the individual food selections, let's just say that everything is considerably over-priced for what you get. All 4 of the entrees were good, but lukewarm upon arrival to the table. The worst parts were the service and ambience. The dining room is extremely loud, not unlike a middle school cafeteria, and you sit 1-2 feet from other tables (cramped). Our server was thoroughly pleasant but incompetent. She brought two of four cocktails, then 5 minutes later, the remainder. I asked for a wine list and 10 minutes later had to ask again. Five minutes more and it finally arrived. She then brought 4 small water tumblers to pour the wine into, and remarked that all the wine glasses were dirty. In sum, for nearly $100/person, the service and atmosphere do not match the prices. It was one of the worst celebratory outings we have ever had. We will not return."

"Our first meal at St. James was amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful cocktails. And the food was outstanding. We ordered the ribeye, the black grouper and wagyu burger and we're all very satisfied with our meals."
