"It's getting harder and harder to find some stuff over in the hunting shooting fishing area. If you think the selection online is small, it's definitely a lot smaller at the store. They don't carry a lot of stuff like they used to. Ammunition is harder to find even now and certain models of firearms are either not available or no longer sold or out of stock or whatever. I've never really found academy to be cost efficient, but sometimes you can find something there that you're not going to find at Walmart. I've never had good luck with shipping. More than often an order gets canceled because the product is there when I actually order it and pay for it. But it's not actually available physically when they go to pull and ship it. That's in store and online."

"We had a blast just browsing for hours while acting like teenagers again inthe process. They have a great selection of all items and the prices were great for the most part. The clearance selections and markdowns made the shopping experience even more awesome."

"Used to really love this store, it was always organized, had a great selection, and there was always someone nearby in the shoe dept to help. The last time I went it was like people literally wanted to avoid being asked for help. I had noticed several boxes of shoes in the kids section that I couldn’t reach and couldn’t see the sizes or prices on due to them being in brown boxes with handwritten labels. After a couple of employees walked by a few times I finally just grabbed one of the benches and stood on it so I could reach them. As soon as I did that a guy walks up looking irritated and says “Do you need help?” No, climbing on benches isn’t good customer behavior, but neither is having bare lower shelves with everything out of reach and no one bothers to offer help."

"I'm a fan of Academy, and there is nothing inheritly wrong with this store. My only complaint is how messy the store is from time to time and how hard it is to find help when you need it. Update: The management here, at least when I seem to go, really needs to be replaced. Store is understaffed during peak hours, there are never carts (always out in the parking lot)...a big chunk of the carts are tangled together in the entrance, so you think you can have a cart, but there is no way to get them apart. And the place is STILL always trashed. I can tell the staff is working their tails off... but the managers are in another world. The last visit, I asked to see a manager. In the 15 minutes it took for them to find her, I watched dozens....not exaggerating, dozens of people walk in, try and get a cart, only to be frustrated and do their shopping without one. I went in to make a big purchase. $200 worth of folding chairs. I had to carry the chairs around the store because I didn't have a cart. I felt like a Karen, but there really is no excuse for what was going on, when I left...I saw the cart corals in the parking lot and they were all overflowing. When I got to talk to the manager, she made no attempt to fix the Storrs problem, but proceeded to get onto me for "walking around the store getting mad about the issue" instead of having a worker get me a cart. To be fair, I didn't have an employee ask how I was doing and offered to get me a cart, but I declined, as he was supposed to be working fishing, and retrieving one cart wasn't going to fix the issue. Again, the staff here are great, hardworking people. Maybe some of them should be promoted."

"Returned a product that I had to of for Christmas. Gave me a coupon for a return come back the next day because it was too crowded and they said I could not use it. Then they said they only give me $20 off a $30 item because I did not have the receipt. Will never set foot in that nasty store again. The manager of that store should be fired!!!"
