"UPDATE: I went in today and saw at least 2 small children roaming/playing in the kitchen freely while the food was being prepared. The youngest child (around 2 years old?) was picking food from a prepared food pan (looked like chicken) and eating it! This is unsanitary and unsafe! I pointed this out to a worker and the child was ushered to the back. I understand some parents needing to choose between child care and work but the children should be somewhere in the back being supervised. PREVIOUS REVIEW: I ordered the salmon hibachi. It was as delicious or BETTER than the expensive alternative!! I cannot wait to go back. I chose soup for my meal but it wasn’t in the bag. The only thing is, I would love later hours like another reviewer suggested. See you soon Sumo!"

"We have been going to Sumo Japanese Grill since they have opened in Livonia about 4 years ago. The food is great, prices very reasonable and the staff are very welcoming! You get a lot of quality food for you buck. Would recommend 100% of the time."
"I have eaten here many times, and their food is really good. The only thing is that the last 3-4 times it has been over salted/peppered, or extremely smoky-tasting, which has really disappointed me. The most recent dinner I picked up from here had so much pepper it was so hard to eat, but I did not have time to go back or get it remade. I think the lack of consistency could start to affect the amount of customers they get if it continues to be like this. Honestly, not to be dramatic, but this last meal was over-seasoned so bad I think I may rethink coming here again, which makes me sad because I did like their food and the staff was always really nice."
