Holiday Inn Express Gaffney, an IHG Hotel 1031 Hyatt Street, Gaffney, SC 29341

"No matter how much I love holiday inn and express this is by far the worst place to place one. I never leave reviews because things happen. Because This is life. However, the staff and management at this particular location is very suspicious. Kind of crooked. I booked a room three times in a row on three separate weekends back in or around July or August 2022. At first, I noticed when I attempted to book the first weekend they told me because of my ID stating I lived in town, they wasn't gonna rent to me due to locals smoking in the rooms. Which I get totally. But I'm not a young foolish person and I respect all rules. I work at a local plant and travel mostly and due to me loving holiday inn and express so much I assured them I wouldn't do such a foolish act or any other. After I paid a high deposit I was able to get the room. She informed me the deposit will be returned after checkout and all is clear. After two days, all clear. However, the next weekend, same process. But this time, after a week, I went up there cause I was purchasing that third weekend. Still no deposit return for that week. They told me sometimes it takes a few days. Cool. Third weekend over with I received my deposit. Still waiting second weekend deposit. Nothing. I went back to speak to manager and her thing was, must have been something wrong with the room triggering them to keep the high deposit. I explained to her I had no problem the week prior nor this third weekend. Only the second weekend. She got all upset as if some housekeepers word or opinion is greater then a paying customer with no prior problems. Ever. Housekeepers wasn't available and I had no leg to stand on being it was a week ago and my trust for their services ran it's course. She was a young afro-american female manager as well as most of the staff. Mostly all locals who do not have a good tract record no where in town. Which is why they probably were hired at a brand new hotel with no knowledge of how crooked they are. She took my information assuring some kind of response once she looked into it. From the way she looked,I knew she wasn't. Here it is a year later, money still un-refunded. Only reason I'm writing a review now is because I'm in that town again and would rather drive to the Spartanburg location rather use the closest one to me to keep from being swindled by these women. Which do not have a deposit by the way which I don't mind paying but refuse to be taken for my hard earned cash because a handful of women may be running a scam on customers. I'd rather spend more gas and time for a piece of mind. This isn't a knock on the establishment but it seems hiring practices have went down the drain. I know this doesn't matter but I am black myself. So when people like this brings up racism or any other kind of ism, I just shake my head cause I, too, would rather another kind of person be in certain positions other then people like them."

"Great location to start multiple day trips around South Carolina and North Carolina. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Minor stain on inside of comforter. Customer service was friendly and efficient. Lobby was clean and inviting."

"Here for business! Stayed 2 different times within the past 2 weeks. First time ants was crawling all over the ceiling , bed and walls. The second time room was ok ,i paid through a 3rd party app the guy that work overnight said he needed my card to charge $50 incidental fee but charged my card $353.25 him or management didn’t give a reason why we was charged $353.25 if I already paid through third party app. I spoke to the manager Erica two times in order for her to process the refund . Still waiting for refund ."

"The pool was closed, our main reason for choosing that one. No hand soap in the bathroom. Was told to use the pump body wash from the shower. Woke up to ants all over our stuff. Only got a ten dollar discount."

"Arrived at the hotel only be told that they were oversold and even though we had a confirmed reservation with an email confirming it from the hotel that we did not have a place to stay. So, at 10PM, my partner and I were looking for two hotel rooms for our two year old and two new born twins who were just released from the NICU after a 4 month stay. There was no apologies, hardly an explanation and just plain rude service."
