Riverside Inn and Cottages

"I can only relate to you our experience staying at the inn, room 5 the "Betty White". The inn is an old single story structure, wooden plank floors, walls, and ceiling. We did not have hot water for our first 24 hours. It was finally repaired late afternoon of our second day. If you are a light sleeper, then this place isn't for you. The floors creak, so you will hear each step your neighbor takes to and from the bathroom, and the walls are paper thin, so you will hear their conversations. There are blinds on the windows, but they do little to darken the room at night. The door has no weather stripping, and so light comes in around the door as well. We purchased some cheap towels and blankets at Walmart to help darken the room for our second a third nights. Apparently there is no maid service, clean towels I assume only come by request. No one at the desk when we arrived or for our whole stay. Had to call a local number for any assistance. Very limited parking. We decided it's not for us and probably will not be returning."

"We stayed in the Drunken Sailor room. It was so fun a quirky! I would recommend this place to anyone who is coming for a great laid back time. Folly Beach is the place you want to go to get an authentic beach experience without having a huge tourist pull."

"Pros: The inn itself is incredibly wonderful. Beautiful breakfast bar and lovely rooms, each with their own outdoor seating.very home style vibe. We stayed in the smallest of the rooms and it was still absolutely lovely. Super close to the beach and stores so you don't have to worry about parking or driving. Con: however, there is one strong con that I took the 1 star off of. If you're staying inside in the 'inn' and not one of the solo cottages, there are multiple rooms you're near. The issue with this, is that there is virtually no insulation or anything to reduce the amount of noise from other parts of the house. The walls on top of that are incredibly thin. We ended up hearing the very vocal uh screams of two people having intercourse in a room ACROSS the inn which went on for a couple hours. I can only imagine what their next room neighbors must have heard more of. I'd suggest looking into either adding flaps to the bottoms of the doors to close the gap of noise or padding the walls more."

"We enjoyed our stay near the beach. The service was great and the office manager showed us around the house. Shower drain seemed to be draining very slowly and the floor boards near the microwave stand shook every time we walked to the bathroom. Worth the price to be near the beach!"

"My wife and I stayed in the "Brass Lady" room for a week from 5/23-29. Right from the beginning, their communication was great. The room is fairly small but cozy. But, it has a good size bathroom & shower and a private deck. It shares a common area with a few other rooms with a very good continental breakfast every morning. The house the room is in is 100+ years old with a ton of character. We loved it. The staff is amazing. We met Ann and Joyce who were extremely personable and professional. They love their job and people. We highly recommend staying here if you get the chance."
