Cane Bay Middle School

"I don't know how anyone can write a bad review about this school. I am the mother of a special needs student. The team at Cane Bay has been amazing!!. Always watching out for her best interest and following her IEP at all times. My child was in good hands the entire time she was there. She just graduated and we are sad to leave but we are excited to enter Cane Bay High.. Fantastic school and staff.."

"My children have went to Cane Bay since second grade. One goes to Cane Bay High School and the other is expelled from Cane Bay Middle. The teachers are by the book and not by the student. My eldest is in honors and has always been very mature and really tries to succeed. The youngest just needs some encouragement and self esteem which he had gotten none. The teachers had put him down so bad that he had become very depressed and has a very low self esteem by thinking he is a bad kid. I walked in the office one day and got attacked by his teacher and felt completely worthless by the time she was done explaining how annoying my child was. It happened to my husband too. By the time the teacher was done telling my husband how annoying my son was in the front office (in front of other students and parents) he felt bad for my son as well. This went on for months until my child now thinks he is a bad kid. Not to mention when my son was trying he wrote an apology letter to the teacher. She did not read it. She balled it up and threw it in the trash can right in front of his face. I am working with my son after getting in trouble to tell him he is not a bad kid and don't let a couple of mean people ever make you do bad things BC you think you are bad. Its all what you make it. The moral of my review is Cane Bay did not care about my child or try to work with him to get him to succeed they just brought him down. If your child is a go getter and does good on his own he will succeed greatly. If your child has problems and needs encouragement this school is not for you. Your child will fail miserably. Also the 5th graders are combined with 8th graders. If my son went back to that school he would be a 9th grader passing 5th graders in the hall. Also if your child caused any problems they will have it out for your child. My son jumped on a juicebox (bad I know) 1st offense of the school year. I got called in my son got suspended and if he did 1 more thing wrong he would get expelled BC they moved his school record over from last year which the principle denied BC he knows its not right to do that. But I have the signed document when he got in trouble stating those exact words. I acted like I lost it and asked for a copy and he denied ever doing that and said there was no document on file. My son started out the year under a very close eye for every move he made instead of being encouraged he was being failed from the start. My son did get disciplined accordingly for his behavior but the school should focus more on students with low esteem and depression and show them some encouragement. A teacher can help a student succeed just by showing a little love and not looking at it as a job. Thanks Cane Bay Middle for not really teaching from your heart!!"
