"This rest area is representation of how Georgia has gone downhill over the past few years. This facility is poorly maintained. The bathrooms stayed locked up most of the time and security lighting is nonexistent. Looks like a good place to get robbed or carjacked. I travel full time and I used to enjoy Georgia. Now I go through as quickly as possible without stopping or spending any money there. I'd rather stop in South Carolina or Alabama. I guess Georgia is more concerned about getting Trump than welcoming visitors."

"What a wonderful surprise! Enjoyed talking to the staff here. This was a refreshing stop. The free coke was a plus. Got good directions here too. Great ride through the countryside coming up the east coast from St. Simons Island. Love this historical GA Visitors Center. Interesting!"

"Just passing thru on the way back to Georgia from a business trip and passed this historic welcome center, the oldest operating state welcome center on the continent. Loved the classic 50s architechture, the pink Georgia Marble walls, and the friendly docent who gave us the full skinny on the place. Also enjoyed the free Cokes."

"This is so cool, well to me, we stopped on a Sunday and the man working inside said it was the longest active attended rest area, for something like 60 years there has always been someone there with a sweet southern twang ready to greet visiting folks. The facility is dated which is cool, today we'd call it vintage. But nothing's out of order. The restroom is very clean. The parking lot is free of debris and in good condition, and the picnic areas are nice and shady."

"The best welcome center I’ve EVER been in! We we’re on our way back to Lavonia, GA from Hilton Head after a short but great sibling get together. I prefer back roads over interstates. I’ve never been down this highway 301 and when we crossed into Georgia and saw the Welcome Center I thought I had traveled back to my childhood! It looked just like the visitor centers from my childhood in Georgia. Justin, the assistant manager, was extremely nice, helpful and knowledgeable. He told us it is the oldest continuously operated welcome center in the United States. It has been open since 1962 and one of only two in Georgia that is not on an interstate. They even had several great local Georgia products for sale, which I bought several of, and lots of information. They even had free samples of Coke products from a fountain machine. That really took me back. If I’m ever in this area again I would go out of my way to stop there again. What a blast! The highlight of our 5 hour drive!"
