Take 5 Oil Change

"I understand the appeal of the quick lube place but I would highly recommend to either change the oil yourself or take your car to a real mechanic. As I was helping my neighbor with his power steering issues he asked me about a check engine light he had so I scanned it with my scan tool and the car threw a P3400 code which often times has to do with low oil levels. I pulled the dip stick to check the oil level and it wasn't registering any readings which of course just shows how low the oil is. Of course my neighbor immediately lost his trust in this oil change place. The picture I have attached was the oil I drained but I also added a little bit more than a quart of oil that I had laying around so you can subtract that from the line on this oil jug. Basically the car had about 1.5 quarts of oil with the oil that was in the filter when the vehicle calls for 4.5 quarts. That is just insane that the car had 3 quarts of oil missing and no, there are no leaks on the car. This will most definitely cause bad wear on the engine and and mostly likely engine damage. Considering most people nowadays don't know what is going on in their engine bay and most people that go to these oil change places that are giving 5 star reviews are completely oblivious to what is going on. I've seen to many cars that have had engines going bad way below 100k miles and I'm confident that a huge part of that are these quick lube places. Also the oil filer was so much smaller than what you could buy at any auto parts store meaning there is also less filter material. Another thing to consider which in this case is not the the oil change place fault but the mileage and service information gets recorded which is good for when you are selling your vehicle but in this case it ended up costing my neighbor because their insurance premium went up by $200 dollars for a 6 month term without warning and after talking with the insurer they saw that they were driving more miles within a certain period. While yes the insurance company is getting a more accurate recording everyone knows how greedy insurance companies are so its better to keep that information from them. If your insurance premium went up then this could be the cause. Definitely something to consider because a cheap oil change can end up costing you a lot more. For most cars you can buy good synthetic oil and filter at Walmart for 30-$40 dollars."

"I had the best customer service ever. I would recommend them to everyone. When you pull up they come to the care with a bottle of cold water. You pull in they review what the proper oil is by scanning your door. With every oil change I am always told I need a filter at an additional charge. Not here. He looked at it and said is what not necessary today. They checked all my engine levels and topped them off, checked tire pressure, and did all this and more with a smile and quickly. Cost is reasonable. When done that gave me a sticker for my car that allows me to go there up to 3000 to have the levels of fluids checked and top off for free and check tire pressure. Best company ever."

"I had just got to the gym across the street when my tire went completely flat. I pulled over there and, while changing or replacing tires isn't a service they officially offer, they still changed out my tire with the spare I had in the trunk out of the goodness of their hearts. Greatly appreciate the helping hand and I'll definitely be giving them my business in the future"
