The Rivington Apartments

"I lived in the Rivington (Clinton St building) for two years and found management to be incredibly predatory. There was a severe carbon monoxide leak in our apartment that Hoboken Fire and Hoboken Public Works had to be called in to resolve. As a result of their careless checks and incredibly old appliances, our water heater was leaking carbon monoxide and would have been life-threatening had we not happen to be sleeping with our windows open. After this happened management tried to raise our rent by close to 30% before being sued by the city and the action blocked. Despite us explaining that we had an exceptionally bad living experience, they fought to raise our rent by 30% until they were legally not allowed to any longer. Management has absolutely zero care for residents. One small example of this is the mail room that just has packages thrown into it, lost and stolen at all times. We also paid for a parking spot, and were given a notice that our car was being towed multiple times and had to rush to resolve the issue so that our car (which was registered with the office and parked in our assigned spot) wouldn’t be towed. Simply out of a lack of care to check that our license plate was registered with them. On top of that, we also had to street park often as our garage gate was frequently broken and would prevent us from entering. Finally, when we moved out we were charged an exorbitant fee for “trash room use” when we simply left one small box of recyclables and used the trash shoot for everything else. At any chance they are given, management will nickle and dime you without any value being added. While our apartment space itself was beautiful, the management team ultimately made this space unlivable for us. We did not feel safe or welcome here."

"Great building complex to live in. Leasing office (Meredith and Nadya) and maintenance staff (Emir and Jonathan) are always timely, professional and friendly. It is a pleasure talking to them and they always alleviate our concerns very quickly. Really appreciate such great customer service and makes the Rivington a special place to live."

"These positive reviews are fake. I’ve posted the pic of the mouse and the fire hazard that is the package room for your consideration. Elevators are always broken, the gas is out on the grills, part of the lawn falls through when stepping on it, and on and on. Maintenance is wonderful but they aren’t given enough resources."
