"I contracted with Town to insulate the exterior walls and the enclosed attic floor of my 1920 American four-square two story house, using cellulose insulation. Josh initially provided a technically and comprehensively accurate assessment of the required scope of work, and a highly competitive cost quotation for the project. When Town's insulation technicians , Greg and Louis, arrived to do the work, they first reviewed with me the written contract's scope of work , and I could immediately tell from how they answered my questions, that i had the right professoinals working for me. Greg and Louis made a thorough inspection of my house, including the basement, the exterior walls, every room in the house, the second story ceilings, and the attic. This was necessary to insure building envelope integrity prior to blowing in the insulation. They quickly performed required minor repairs and patches to the plaster and lath walls. A retired engineer, I was impressed with Town's truck - mounted blowing machine, its associated hardware, and how the machine is calibrated to guarantee the required 3.5 lb per cubic foot density needed for optimum insulation and for the prevention of cavity voids due to settling. Greg and Louis did magnificent work on the exterior walls and the attic floor. They left my premises clean and neat after their work was finished. My exterior walls are several degrees warmer than before the insulation was installed. INTERIOR DRAFTS ARE NOW NON-EXISTENT! Outside road traffic and windstorm noise have been reduced by several decibels. I use my oil furnace for 5 minutes in the morning to take off the chill until my far cheaper supplementary heat source takes over and is now able to hold the downstairs to a comfortable 65 degrees on 20 degree days. My upstairs is much more comfortable and my wife cannot believe the difference that Town has made to our home's comfort level. If you are suffering from obscenely high heating costs this winter, those costs will likely be even higher in the future. "Terrible. Eric King came out and took my information in December for EmpowerNY. Never returned my phone calls. The office was unhelpful. Finally I called NYSERDA today and found out my application was never submitted! I called the office and the woman who answered the phone was completely blase about the whole thing. They wasted my time and my money. I really needed insulation THIS winter, not next winter! Had I known they dropped the ball I could have gotten another contractor. Just looked on Yelp and there are a few other people who have gone through this exact situation- phone calls not returned for MONTHS and applications mysteriously missing."
