"Well we used him as an attorney. We been doing this since April of 2023. Here it is almost Nov 2023 and still haven’t closed all cause of him. He’s been lying and playing us and the bank. He told the bank he hired another person the do his job so we called the other person. They said they have no records of us and he will never do work for McDermott again and he hasn’t for 8 years. Tues about 330 he said he has everything he needs for the bank that he will send them first thing in morning then we can close well we’d came and nothing so we called him and said he will take care of it and call us back within 30 minutes. Well here it is now Sunday and he’s been ignoring us. So all this time he’s pretending he’s doing his job. This home/land deal the bank says shouldn’t have taking no longer than 60 days. So needless to say because of him we now can’t move u til spring 2024. Hate to say but he’s a ….fn idiot"

"We hired McDermott to handle the simple closing for the sale of our home. He had to pull the abstract, any first year attorney knows how to do a closing. He doesn't return calls to his clients' or to the buyers' attorney. He never pulled the abstract that ended up having a Title issue, through my realtor I learn he is so incompetent he literally had to ask the buyers' attorney how to fix it. Which he never did and didn't even bother to notify us of the problem. If my Realtor hadn't shared with us her email communications we never would have known he wasn't taking care of things. When we did speak with him, which was very rare, he told us things were under control and moving forward. We still have yet to close on our house. In a conversation I had with him a week ago we discussed that we would be moving forward with closing asap since I had corrected the issue and I discussed the same with the abstract company who going to guarantee the title with the buyers' attorney and they too would move forward. Got an email last night McDermott still hasn't returned any calls to the buyers' attorneys even though when I talked to him he told me he was going to call him right after he got off the phone with me. How does a lawyer with 35+ years experience not know how to clear a title search, as soon as I was sent the abstract, I knew what I had to research and I knew what I had to do to get it resolved. I didn't get a Juris Doctorate, I just worked for one, 30+ years ago. Yeah, this man is completely and totally unprofessional and incompetent."
