"How can you close a YMCA downtown location, where this location was a source of community and healthy options for seniors, adults, young adults and traveler visiting the Rochester, NY area. This YMCA health center played a role on the impact on health for adults, seniors, and young adults alike. , The absence of access to this location is really really felt. The rasing cost of healthcare could be averted when all peoples and those who uses public transportation can continue to benefit from all the health benefits of this Carlson Center,. This is a shame that the management did not fight to ensure that the Rochester communities had access to this YMCA center."

"I've been coming to this Y for many years. Helpful friendly staff. My favorite activities: basketball, swimming, sauna, and hot tub on main floor, track, weights, and Life Fitness on top floor. Lobby with newspaper, coffee, and computers. Parking convenient across street. Free for 90 min, reasonable after that. It brings me downtown near some of my other favorites: Eastman Theatre, ROCO, Jazz St. (Gibbs)"

"Great place for a workout- use the pool all the time. Wish the other YMCA's had locker and towel service, as this makes it very convenient to do a workout after work, or to cycle over and avoid the hassles of parking. They do offer a 2 hour ticket for the East End garage-- so if you're just in for a class, it won't cost you to park. Staff is nice-- though a lot of the weekend staff doesn't seem to be well versed on various policies and stuff-- and wish they didn't close earlier on the weekends in summer-- that's exactly when some of us want to use the pool and sauna to top off the end of the day. Still, great place. Been going here several months, still haven't done half of what I could. Great variety for everyone."

"Worst experience and customer service i have ever seen by the male receptionist! Did not even try to help with having to try the gym out for the first time. Spoke on the phone with a lady in management and advised me we would be fine with our ID and guest pass on our phones. The guy was very short with me and a few other of my guests who were in the process of trying to obtain a guest pass. He ended up disregarding our concern and we left. I do not recommend for first timers!"

"The Carlson MetroCenter YMCA is my Y of choice, despite there being closer Y's to me. WHY? It has a steam room (the only Y that has one in this area), and it has an excellent indoor running track. The indoor track is designed to be better than running on concrete, etc. The pool is wonderful and perfect for lap swimming and general swimming. The locker rooms are very large and very clean, as well as the shower room. It even offers a towel service where you can include your gym clothes. They will be washed and ready for you on your next visit. It also has all the physical fitness equipment to meet everyone's needs, and at a great value."
