"Dr. Mauro and her staff absolutely set the bar for veterinary care. Daisy is my first dog and honestly I was a highly inexperienced dog mom. I previously had a rabbit and the vet care I received at a different vet made me realize just how great Dr. Mauro and her staff are. We met Dr. Mauro during the midst of Covid protocols over a phone and I knew that she would be taking amazing care of my baby girl. In 2021 Daisy began experiencing some upsetting symptoms and without a hesitation, Dr. Mauro and her staff saw us. Dr. Mauro diagnosed a chicken allergy (I didn’t even know that was possible!) Since then Dr. Mauro has assisted us in other medical emergency’s and preventative care. The feeling of when people know your name when you walk in, is something you no longer see most places. We are forever grateful for Dr. Mauro and her staff. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!"

"Dr Mauro and everyone at South Gate animal hospital helped us make my dogs years with us easy. We adopted a senior dog and only got to spend 2 years with her but they made them 2 quality years. Dr Mauro made every right decision she could for her and fought with us until the end. She was with us when she helped our sweet girl pass on. Everyone from the office came in to give our girl kisses and to say goodbye. I never feared them having my dog. My dog loved them all so dearly and I’m grateful for everything they tried to help us have more time. Walla loved you all. We can’t say thank you enough."

"Although the staff and doctors were nice, I will not be returning to the practice because of multiple poor experiences I’ve had. I took my cat, Moon, here for a check up in 2021 and was told to bring a stool sample, which I did and they threw it out. I called for results and they told me they never received the sample. I asked them to cut her nails and they only did the back feet. It’s now 2022 and I am back for an annual check up. I bring her in and they immediately turn her away and opt for sedation because she’s hiding in her crate and lashed out, which she’s never done to another vet before. I believe she sensed bad vibes. There’s a girl hysterically sobbing in the office very loudly. The staff told me 3 different days and times her appt was so I had to call them 2 times to double check I was bringing her at the right time because I didn’t trust them. Now it’s the day of her sedation and of course she comes home doped up which is normal, but her tail isn’t going up like it normally does. I wait a few days and I can tell when I touch it that she is in pain. Her tail is still not normal and I’m very concerned. I call and speak to the doctor and they insist that she must’ve hurt it while she was home or in the carrier. They didn’t even want to admit responsibility that they could’ve hurt her. They told me to just “wait a few weeks”. They did not inform me that her injection was done in her spine until I asked them. I am convinced they hurt her tail or that they paralyzed part of it. It has been over a week and it still isn’t the same. Will not be going back to this vet because Moon has never had a problem with any other practice besides this one. The picture is how far her tail can go now. They also tried to charge me $285 for blood work. And $80 for medicine that didn’t work on my cat. They were probably so happy I agreed to sedation because it was another $200 in their pocket. Also the place smells horrible and is not clean. I know vet offices can smell weird but this was exceptionally bad."
