"I started seeing Jim back around 2013 when my father was slowly dying from terminal lung cancer. I found myself in a pretty terrible state of affairs, losing my passion for things that I normally would enjoy. I had a host of issues to discuss about the complicated relationship I had with my father and how his imminent death was affecting me. It was very, very difficult for me to even know where to begin, but I just took it session by session with Jim as he continued to listen intently and express genuine concern for everything I was going through. Perhaps the biggest thing that ended up helping me was Jim's continually trying to push me to put myself out into the world more and not let myself withdraw into my grief. He would frequently present me with social events he'd seen in the paper that he felt would be good for me and actively encouraged me to make small changes like this to help regain some control in my life. Going on four years later I still see Jim because his care has helped me establish a mental health routine that keeps me focusing on the positive and moving forward. I greatly respect his approach to therapy, especially his encouragement to avoid anti-anxiety or anti-depressant drugs unless therapy is truly not making any progress. I strongly recommend seeing Jim if you're looking to improve your mental health. It's not just that he's done a world of good for me but that he's encouraged me to do a world of good for myself."
