"The staff & dance teachers are great!!! They are really nice & welcoming. But the older teenage girls / dance students ( Ages 16 & older) are mean & racist! My daughter made two different attempts to join dance classes here being that we live right in the neighborhood. The students were not welcoming to my daughter, they stared, barely talked to her, stayed & talked in corners amongst each other, leaving me daughter alone on the other side of the room & verbally threw shade at her. In terms of.....my daughter shouldn't be there if she didn't know how to do certain moves / techniques. It's obvious most of the students have been attending this dance studio for years & they all know each other well. Dance Odyssey is a "Dance Studio', that offers ongoing dance classes to students that have been there forever & to potential "NEW" students that want to learn dance!! The owner, dance instructors & staff should take the time to reinforce rules of discrimination, being mean to newbies, etc. There should be zero tolerance of these kinds of behaviors!! When a young teenage girl, who has a love of dance enters any dance studio......she is looking forward to being accepted as part of the dance family, no matter what race, fate or religion she is. She is there to learn & enjoy the art of dance, to be a part of something beautiful! The teenage girls that go to this studio are shady, stuck up & racist & the staff has no clue on what's going on behind the scenes with these girls!! It's a real shame because this is a really nice place & again.....the dance teaches & staff are awesome, sweet ladies!! By the way.....yes, my daughter is African American mixed & I decided to pull her out & put her in another dance studio that has more cultural mixed races....that welcomes her to the team, that helps & teaches her dance techniques & treats her as part of the dance family!!"
