"My 7 year old daughter is really enjoying her classes. All the teachers are excellent with children. The teacher student ratio is excellent. Usually about one teacher for every 4-5 students."

"Hanshi Jim and the other instructors treat my child like he is important and valued, and not just money walking through the door. My son has been attending for 4 years now and I've finally decided to take classes myself. I feel like Hanshi truly cares about me and developing me as well. I am thankful to have found such a place and it truly has formed bonds that make me feel like we are part of a family. I highly recommend the two week free trial so you can experience this art for yourself."

"As is the case with many of Jim’s adult students, I started taking karate here after my young son enrolled in the kids program. This is a family oriented school, although kids and adults take different classes—leading toward a “junior black belt” for those under age 16. The core curriculum is Isshin-ryu Karate, an old school Okinawan martial art, supplemented with jiujitsu (grappling and joint locks) and judo (throws and sweeps). The atmosphere is welcoming, a sign of which is the large number of female adult students and female black belts, but still very rigorous. Higher level adult students (brown belt and up) are throwing one another, breakfalling, applying submissions, live drilling, and doing heavy pad work daily. The patient and supportive environment allows everyone to learn and grow their skills, while aggression and abuse are not tolerated. This attracts a great mix of people—I’ve worked with nurses, teachers, cops, medical doctors, bankers, stay-at-home moms, and state prison guards, and their kids have worked with my kids. This dojo strikes a unique balance and is definitely worth checking out."
