Optum Pediatric Urgent Care - Wantagh

"Daughter was very sick and weak and we didn’t want to make her sit around a waiting room by being a walk in so we took the first appoint we could get, hours later, at 5pm. We show up and are told it’s going to be an hour wait because there’s been a lot of walk ins. We reminded the receptionist we had an appointment and we were told that they only do that to “speed up check in” whatever that means. It’s absolutely beyond me why you would even offer appointments at that point. We will never be returning to this establishment."

"Absolutely amazing!! Front desk staff, Claire went above and beyond for us, so friendly and accommodating. Then we met NP Christina Giglio and just wow. This is the first time at a pediatrics n urgent care, where I left with answers, and my son was "actually checked." I am so tired of going to these facilities and going home with no answers, but not this time!!! They really love what they do and have amazing patient care. I highly recommend you go here for your little ones. You will not be disappointed ❤️"

"Is there an option for 0 stars? My 3yo daughter has had over 100 fever for 24 hours, was up all night, so my mind was at ease when we were able to make a 10am appointment at the Optum Wantagh urgent care. It is absolutely ridiculous that when I show up for daughter’s 10am appointment, I was told there were 10 patients ahead of her and it would be about 60-90 minutes. I ask, what is the point of taking appointments? I was told “to guarantee she is seen today”. First of all, that is NOT what an appointment is. But that begs the question, if my daughter did not have an appointment, and showed up at 10am, would it be a possibility to sit there until close and then your doctors NOT see my daughter? I will be sure to blast your sweatshop of a medical practice to all local message board and Facebook groups as this is grossly unacceptable. To quote Jerry Seinfeld, “you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.”"

"Awful. Brought my daughter there 2 hours before they close bc she has been exposed to strep and is complaining of a sore throat. Receptionist asked for reason of visit then left to talk to doctor. Came back 5 seconds later and said sorry we aren’t accepting any more appointments tonight. There were only 3 people in waiting room and 2 hours until they close. I guess getting out early is more important to the doctor than giving someone a strep test when they have been exposed to strep. So I had to drive my sick child to PM Pediatrics in Massapequa where we are currently waiting to see the doctor. Never again Optum Pediatrics."
