"I had my hearing tested here with Averall Paes at the end of May for reduced hearing symptoms that I had experienced from my amazon parrot "screeching" in my ear. I got referred here from doctor Parikh junior, from the office next door. After a hearing test that actually probably did more harm than good because the one test she ran produced extremely loud noises into my ears after I had already experienced trauma, the hearing test did show a moderate loss at 4,000 khz and an absent oae, which is your hair cell activity at each decibel. I was a little shocked and upset that a parrot screech could cause so much damage. This was not gunfire or an explosion. I asked Averill if it's possible that in time I could recover back some of my hearing since this had only been a week after this happened. She said no I would not recover my hearing since it had already been a week. I really thought that Averill was quite experienced since she had been an audiologist for 20 years. I left the office quite upset. I recently got my hearing rechecked at a different place that is quite reputable. Guess what? I got my hearing back and it is now in the normal range. Plus the absent oae in the 4,000 range is now present! Maybe Averill should start telling patients that experience a sudden hearing loss that she is not sure if the patient will get their hearing back especially just 1 week after the trauma. Geez, I pretty much thought it was well known by most ent's (and they're specialists) that you can recover hearing all the way up to 4 weeks into a loss. Averill, you might want to start keeping your mouth shut and let the professional doctor give the patient information on sudden hearing loss. I really would recommend people that experience sudden hearing loss to go somewhere else unless they want the wrong information."
