"This is the place. It’s hard for me to find the right words to explain the impact this place had on my first birth experience. I am a NICU RN, that was seeking a birth experience outside of the hospital setting. From orientation to every appointment that followed, I was treated with the upmost care. There is a level of attentiveness here that cannot be achieved in a hospital or clinic. You are truly treated like family. Every midwife and birthing assistant are a wealth of knowledge. Ready to answer every question or concern with years of insight, completely judgment free. Demacy is the best in the biz. So kind and proactive in her work. I was fortunate enough to have the birth experience I had always hoped for, because of these truly wonderful people. I unfortunately moved away from the area or else I’d have all my future children here as well. I cannot recommend this place enough."

"My wife gave birth to our first child one week ago at Lilac as of writing this review. She received complete prenatal care here during pregnancy and we have a few more follow up visits to go. There are no amount of words that I can type into this google review to get across the level of care, compassion, and support that the entire Lilac team provided us throughout the past 9 months. And all of this culminated in the most powerful experience of my life so far - special thanks to the attending Midwives, Aly and Sarah, for leading us through labor and delivery. This place feels like home and the team knows babies and mommas so well. And it really is a team providing around the clock support the whole way - they all clearly love what they do. "Choosing to give birth at Lilac health was one of the best decisions of my life. Five years ago, I chose to give birth to my first son at the WNC birth center, which was also a wonderful experience, so I have another experience to compare this one with. I believe that this new incarnation of a birth center in Asheville is an improvement on the previous center in many ways. My experience with the care given at the birth center was above and beyond all my wishes for a natural, safe, and loving birth experience. From the orientation all the way to the postpartum visits, I felt respected, and cared, and by the end of my time there, like part of the birth center family. I had fantastic experiences with all the midwives, and absolutely loved the new model of having birth assistants. I felt constantly surrounded by strong, knowledgeable, caring and passionate women that guided me through my birth experience by providing me the information I needed to feel empowered. I loved the birth rooms and the tubs for water births. These rooms make you feel like you are at home, and because I live 30 minutes from the hospital, this was the safest way to have the comforts of home with the care I needed. During all the visits and birth, the midwives and birth assistants always talked me through everything that they were doing in order for me to be able to feel comfortable making decisions for my care. I never felt pressured to do something I didn’t want to, and felt supported and never judged for my decisions. Because the birth center just recently opened, it was just in time for me to get the chance to birth there. There was a moment in time, where I was unsure if I could afford the birth center because they were out of network with my insurance (although they are currently in the process of getting in network with certain providers it was just because they had just opened), and after talking with folks at the birth center I made the decision to go to the birth center regardless of the cost. (Don’t get me wrong, the cost is very affordable compared to paying for a hospital birth out of pocket). I can confidently say, that we are SO HAPPY that we made the decision to go with the birth center. Birth is one of the most vulnerable, special and transformative moments in a persons life, and by being at the birth center I was able to be surrounded by the love and care that I wanted, with no trauma or regrets. Lilac health is an amazing birth center, I am so grateful for my experience there and I am looking forward to continuing with their well woman care in the years to come. "Asheville Birth and Wellness Center gave me, my husband, and my daughter the greatest gift - a beautiful, loving, and supportive birth experience. Every midwife, birth assistant, and staff member at the birth center is incredible. They gave us perfect care and treated us like family. We went from having a rushed 10-minute prenatal appointments with the provider at our hospital to 60-90 minutes with our midwife at the birth center. Appointments with Melissa were always comforting, informative, and truly fun. We looked forward to every visit. Towards the end of my pregnancy, a few mild concerns popped up and if I ever had a question or concern, I was always able to get in touch with a midwife, even in the middle of the night. At appointments, Melissa was careful to explain everything thoroughly and always made sure every question was answered before we left. They kept a close eye on our health, ordering regular lab work and checking in with me regularly. When my water broke at 38 weeks, they kept me calm and naturally guided me into active labor. They also made sure to let me know how I would get to the hospital if things didn’t go as planned. Fortunately, we were able to stay at the birth center for the birth. We chose the water room, a peaceful and comfortable room with a big bed and amazing tub. The midwives and birth assistants created a peaceful environment with an essential oil diffuser, music, and dim lighting. They trusted my body to do what it needed to do and allowed me to lead the way. They created space for my husband and never interrupted our connection. After 11 hours of labor, our baby girl was born in the wee hours of the morning, surrounded by the love and support of women who truly respect the sacredness of birth. Everything was peaceful afterwards. They allowed us to bask in newborn heaven and made sure we were all comfortable. When we were ready, they got me cleaned up and made sure we were fed. We left the next day, everyone waving goodbye from the door as we drove away. The cost includes two appointments for the baby and two postpartum appointments for mom at 2 and 6 weeks, but they gave so much more than that. They checked in with us regularly and worked with our pediatrician and lactation consultant to make sure we got all the care we needed. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Asheville Birth and Wellness Center is a magical place with amazing people."

The prenatal, labor, and postnatal care offered here is truly exceptional. If you want the perfect balance between a hospital birth and a home birth, this is it.
