"Everyone at this cancer center is friendly and happy when they work with patients, from radiation, to chemotherapy, and the multi - discipline office. The receptionists are on top of every appointment and need. There are conveniently - placed coffee - tea - hot chocolate stations, some with cookies and other snacks In the 5th floor chemotherapy suite, there is a laboratory where nurses draw blood for many disciplines, on - site and off-site requisitions. If you have a blood draw port (Mediport, Powerport), you get bumped forward in line, because most likely you are readying for chemo (and also need stat labs). Nevertheless, any blood draws are done in short order with a reasonable wait time. I think my longest wait time was fifteen minutes. Doctors here discuss your treatment as peers, clarifying if necessary, and listening to your questions, ideas, and concerns and addressing them. They will give you their recommendations based on the research and the hospital success rate of treatment. They will tell you specific side effects to look for. If you tell them your dietary habits or ideas and especially every over-the - counter medicine you take, they will incorporate that in your treatment guide (and note that for future reference, too). Telling them everything you experience, even if it doesn't pertain to chemotherapy or radiation or your medical treatment is still critical to receiving the best care from the doctors and nurses and other Healthcare givers. These people have seen many patients successfully complete the regimen, and they know what happens during the process. They will guide you through it, and they will remind you of all the phases and experiences. I have gotten hazy from all the information up front, and I was relieved when they went over it many times. I like the pager system the chemotherapy suite has. It shows you where to go next and when (Dr., lab, infusion center, etc.), and it speeds the process up tremendously. The check - in people will also come out into the waiting area if needed to discuss billing and release forms, and to put your ID band on you. And all personnel wash their hands and use antibacterials in front of you so you know they are being safe with you."
