Robert Ruark Inn

"All I can say is, if you’re traveling to North Carolina, especially the coast the town of Southport is a must see! And one the best places to stay is the “Robert Ruark Inn”. Old world charm meets modern conveniences. It’s like going back in time without the sacrifice of the old ways. Rick and Linda are the most amazing hosts anyone could ask for. Rick gives an amazing tour of the town and his golf cart that seats 6 comfortably and safely. His knowledge of the town and its history is amazing. You will learn much about this country’s early years, defending its borders to the time when it became a booming, fishing port, and then a favorite filming location for Hollywood while it retains its quaint charm and small town feel. The shopping and restaurants are amazing. We were there in August which is the hottest time of the year and it was so pleasant being by the coast with the cool ocean breeze. I don’t think we had a bad meal the whole trip. I like the area so much I plan on retiring in or near that town. Rick and Linda will make sure that you have a great vacation even if it’s just a weekend rendezvous. Clean and quite, you’ll feel like it’s your own. You will not be disappointed and have marvelous memories to cherish. Make this one of your destinations! Rich and Valerie"

"Enjoyed our stay immensely!! Very good breakfast in the mornings and wine/cheese served in the afternoon. The owners Rick and Linda were great hosts. We also enjoyed visiting with the other guests. It was a great experience all around!"

"Fantastic accommodation with fantastic owners who provided fantastic food! Best waffles ever! The Inn owners provided an optional historic tour of Southport via golf cart which was informative and fun! Everything is within walking distance of the Inn but the Inn also provided bikes for the guests to use. We really enjoyed our time in Southport!"

Wine and cheese in the afternoon on the porch was so relaxing, and Rick’s breakfast’s second to none. The location is perfect, walking distance to everything. "Beautiful, historic, far exceeded our expectations. The rooms are like stepping back in time...to a time where genteel living was for a select few. A nip of port or sherry in the evening? 4pm wine, charcuterie, or perhaps a tasty sweet? And did I mention the amazing breakfasts? This is a B&B you won't want to miss. It's centrally located within walking or biking (yes, there are bikes!) to everything you'd want. The shops, restaurants, waterfront, and abundant additional historic homes and landmarks.
