"I would not recommend the Highland Inn to anyone!!! The employees that work there lie and can’t be trusted. So sad that a business in such a small tourist town can treat there customers so bad and still be able to keep their doors Open . If I could give them a 0 I would. Beware of this hotel not good!!!"
"Had a very nice and relaxing stay at the Highlands Inn. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was super friendly! They have a beautiful fire place that we sat by in the evening and they also provide warm cookies and coffee at night too! The breakfast was free and served right too us, definitely recommend for you next stay in Highlands! Will definitely be coming back."
"I have just returned from 5 days at the Highland Inn last week. It is a charming place full of beautiful antiques and interesting history. The Inn, however, badly needs overall attention nd care. The hallways and elevator smelled terribly musty and the carpet was worn and dirty. The bed linens were terrible - thin and worn - certainly not what you would expect in a historic facility of this caliber charging these rates. When I arrived on Monday afternoon, the front desk attendant acted as though I was an interruption although I learned there were only three other guests in the hotel. There was no general information offered other than brief answers to my questions. On Monday morning, however, a warm, cordial staff member, Chris, was delightful as she prepared and served breakfast but also took the time to welcome each guest and offer information about the Inn which she obviously loved. After breakfast she offered to show me some of the unique areas of the building I would have never seen otherwise. She is your best ambassador and hardest worker. As the week progressed and a few more guests arrived, she offered the same hospitality to each person in the dining room although she was busy preparing, serving and cleaning up plus managing the front desk. It would be such a shame to see this beautiful old structure continue to decline when it has so much to offer."
"** STAY AWAY! CONSUMER BEWARE! STAY AWAY! ** THIS WAS ONE OF MY WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES EVER! STAY ANYWHERE ELSE! -- I booked this hotel weeks before arriving and was charged a deposit and emailed a confirmation. When I arrived, Michaela (sp?) explained to me that there was a system error and I was given the wrong rate. The difference was $200 and I had to pay the difference if I wanted to stay there. There was no apology for the system error, empathy or any compromising even though I had my confirmation. When I explained that this is not the right response being that the error was entirely theirs, I was threatened with being escorted off the property. It was wild, I was just explaining that I’m feeling strong armed to pay more because now I have nowhere else to go and the response was ‘you’ll be escorted off the property if you don’t pay the difference.’ Note, I’ve never been escorted off a property before or threatened like that in the past. I agreed to the new rate (because I had nowhere else to go) and went up to the room and started calling other hotels. THANK GOD I found a room at another hotel because the room was probably the most dated that I’ve ever seen; felt like I went back to the 80s/90s. Read other reviews about the age of the furniture but most importantly, just stay away."
"My wife and I stayed at the Inn for three nights this past weekend (June 2023). It was our first time in the Highlands, we visited for a wedding. I have no complaints, everything was as expected. Sure, the place is a bit dated, but that adds to the charm a bit. If you are looking for high end accommodations, there are plenty of other alternatives around town. There are very few the provide the reasonable pricing and location in the Highlands, and this fits the bill. If we visit again, I would stay here again. Room was clean. Bed was nice and was cleaned and made up each day by staff. They provide a free breakfast each morning as well. Every one of the staff members we met were all very friendly"
