"Had a great stay at Standing Bear Farm.... Maria and fam are excellent business operators and Maria gave me the best recommendation for a short hike in the Great Smokey Mountains. Standing Bear is an eclectic collection of extra touches from previous visitors and AT hikers that tell many stories from many years.... Definitely a spot to check out with a great value and lots of amenities... A beautiful scenic adventure awaits all visitors..."
"Stumbled upon this place while traveling some backroads. Beautiful property that is a hipcamp & is frequented by A.T. hikers for a place to stay, replenish supplies, do some laundry etc. Cabins, treehouse, bunkhouses are some of the options available. Everyone we met there was very friendly."
"Didn't expect a great home cooked meal. But had brown beans cornbread fried ktatos with fresh onions. And cherry kobler with vinella ice cream. Thank you all so muck. First true home cooked meal I have ate in 3 years. Your new friend Gizzybear and Po Bo"
"I was looking for a place to go hammock camping and hadn't planned to go to the Smokies but I stumbled across this place online and thought it looked like a really cool place to stay, from the photos. Rustic but comfortable, with cool people to meet, working there or hikers from the Appalachian Trail. Just felt like a special place to me. I stayed in the Creek House and it was great. First two nights I used my sleeping bag (it got into the 30s) and left the door open. The last night I closed the sliding door and the heater kept it nice and toasty. Bathrooms are port-a-johns for now at least, so keep that in mind. But this is a great place to get away from it all and get back to basics. There is a kitchen so you can cook your food, a place to hand wash your laundry and dry it in a dryer, a store where you can get just about anything, and the whole place is cool and eclectic looking, rustic and yet some definite artistic touches. It was just a special place to me, a little hidden nook of a community not far off the interstate (but quiet as can be), where all are welcomed and all who come are welcoming. Two nights I was there, there were two young ladies there, one from Germany, who had made dough to wrap around sticks and cook over the fire. We all partook and it was great...another night, I met a hiker from London nearing the end of the Appalachian Trail. I was glad to get home and yet I didn't ever want to leave."
"I had a great experience, i came with my 13 years old daughter, we knew it's not on the fancy side but the energy is just right. The place is beautiful and simple , the location is right by the rafting town, Maria is very helpful and welcoming and it was great iver all."
