"This is a small, but very nice camping area on the New River, approximately 2 miles downriver of the Fries Junction area. There are basically only two campsites, but several people could camp here comfortably. I've spent two nights here in recent years and it was very peaceful. The sound from an area of rapids just upriver lulled me to sleep. I feel that the $17 per night fee is a bit much, considering there are no facilities aside from a vault toilet. I suppose you could say that the atmosphere is worth the price. There is no "piped" water here, but there are a couple small springs nearby on the opposite side of the trail. I gathered water from one of those springs. I filtered AND boiled it just in case, and had no ill-effects. So if you can hike or bike in with your gear, try spending the night here. I think you'll enjoy it. By the way, there are picnic tables, fire rings, and a good amount of grassy area to pitch your tent."
