"Hi,i'am the Grooms Dad and made reservations for a rehearsal brunch on Saturday October 28th 2023.Well let me say that the food was good although they were very cheap on the portions of food and the soda and coffee .We paid for 40 people but 31 came,if they all showed up there would not be enough of food. When i asked the (man) one of the servers if more food will come out he stated that that is it,if people are hungry we will put out a few peace's at a time, what the hell! i paid for 40 people. He was a very snotty and rude employee and it was very disappointing of his actions, supposed to be a family restaurant but that did not happen , paid a lot of money for below average service and very little food.I will not go back @all"

"We were a party of 3 and one take out order. The stuffed mushrooms were excellent. Two of us had the broiled sole, it was very tender and tasty. There was plenty of butter on the fish. The garden salads were 100% fresh, no wilted lettuce seen. Jenn is very pleasant and well liked as evidenced by some of the "usuals". The spaghetti and meatballs were ok. The meatballs were only lukewarm, the sauce was very dark. Appearances that the order "sat" for awhile. No free refills for beverages. Soda/Lemonade."

"My family believes Alloys to be a Poughkeepsie staple Italian restaurant. The flavors of each meal bring you the sense of Grandma's Sunday cooking. It's delicious, and every bite will make you happier than the last. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy, and perfect for dates, family gatherings and/or single dining. The staff are lovely, and very courteous and helpful. The drinks taste great too whether it's a cocktail, beer, coffee, tea, or regular drink you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend you stop in and enjoy an incredible meal. The desserts are especially divine!"

"***Update #2*** Although I'm not a big fan of Aloy's pizza (see below), I ordered one of their other menu items, Chicken Francais, and it was very good. The chicken was tender and the sauce had a nice lemony taste. It came with a salad, which I ordered with with their house dressing with crumbly blue cheese, and pasta in marinara sauce - both of which were very good. We also ordered Tartufo for dessert which was also delicious. I've raised my overall rating from 3 to 4 and now recommend Aloy's. ***Update*** I've had Aloy's pizza a few times now and the taste is really starting to grow on me. Unfortunately they are extremely inconsistent with respect to the crust. The crust is always thin but not always crunchy. More often 'floppy'. Again, interesting/ good taste just very inconsistent when it comes to the crust. *** Original review Despite living in/around Poughkeepsie for 50+ years, I've never been to Aloys. I've heard their pizza is legendary, and the food is fantastic, unfortunately that was not my experience but I'm going to go back and give it another try. For now, all I can give it is 3 stars. On the plus side the staff is friendly and attentive. Although the atmosphere is nothing special and somewhat dated, there's still something appealing about it. As you come in there's a bar to the right and the dining area is to the left. Past the dining area is a large room for parties. As far as the food goes, we had their pizza. It took a VERY long time to arrive. My dining partner has had their pizza many times before and loves it. Me, not so much. It's thin crust (which I do like) and we had half cheese and half pepperoni. The cheese only pie was better as it was much less oily with a crispy crust. I could easily pick it up and eat it. The pepperoni was very oily, thin crust also but far too 'floppy' to pick up. The taste for both was just ok. There are a lot of reviews that speak highly of the pizza, so perhaps it's just me because I'm just not tasting it. The next time I go back I will try something other than the pizza and hopefully be able to rate it higher."

"What a nice place. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Great Italian food. Lovely ambiance. The desserts were impressive (that brownie topped cheesecake wow!). My friend and I had a really lovely evening and look forward to coming back."
