River House

"Went here when we were visiting for the summer. We waited a bit for a table, which was totally understandable-- they just don't have a great area to wait and we felt like we were in the way, which I felt bad for. When we were seated, we were seated next to a table of 7 or 8 people who all had been drinking and were screaming over each other to be heard- the room was small and we literally couldn't hear ourselves talk. I mentioned this to the server who didn't think it was an issue. I finally got them to move our table but really felt like I was the one being a nuisance-- honestly, and I'm used to loud spaces, I don't know why they didn't ask them to not scream at each other (imagine a group when they are very very loud happy drunks. Appropriate in the bar, but trying to eat next to them was giving me a migraine.) Anyways, the food was ok, but the mussels I ordered had half the portion closed, which basic seafood knowledge means you can't eat them. The manager did take a few dollars off the bill, which was fine as I ate some of them, but honestly the dish should have never come out. The remaining ones had some cracked as well. The server said he had been there for 4 years but didn't know why it was an issue they were closed and the manager also seemed clueless which surprises me given its a restaurant on the water that serves seafood. Anyways, it wasn't the worst dinner in the world, but it was just uncomfortable and I wouldn't go back, especially for the price."

"We had some really terrific burgers. The local craft beer selection is awesome. Our server, Leeah was so nice, and very attentive and fast with our drinks and food. We definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!"

"We took a beginning of the week trip to Boldt Castle, and at the beginning of the week there aren’t many options in Alexandria Bay to dine. We almost left the area but stumbled right in front of the inviting patio of the River House in the hopes of some good fish and chips. I was a little worried at first when it was just the bar tender and one waitress working the place - but those two ladies delivered. Drinks were filled, condiments came, food was hot and delicious. We ordered fish and chips, cheese ravioli, and a chicken club salad. We ranked them in that order. The table next to us raved about their scampi dish. Glad we came in, was a great dinner."

"Absolutely loved the place and the food. We came upon the place wandering after our boat cruise to the Castles and needed a warm dinner. It didn't disappoint! Our waitress (Whitney) was very helpful and really nice.Hands down recommend the pasta. Very hearty and comforting !"

"Long wait time. Took 45 minutes to recieve appetizer. Another 30 minutes for entree. Food was bland. Waitress never checked in with our order. We had to request after an hour for another round of water. Requested condiments; they were never delivered to table. Did not eat meal; too greasy/unappetizing, was never asked how I liked it. Upon receiving the bill, I asked if the order could be comped because I had barely eaten it. Was informed by waitress that I had touched it and therefore I had to pay for my order in full or go seek out the manager myself. Eventually got the order comped, but just wasn't worth it. Do not recommend."
