"Had a car stolen from my driveway. Took patrol car 2 days to come to “investigate”. Total joke! Told my son to get a gun to protect me! He was 17! Never even looked for the car!!!!"

"My wife and I recently moved to Pender County from out of state. We had a beautiful brand new home built in Crown Pointe by Crossroads Construction, (BTW, they did an excellent job) The other day, I was outside and I looked up at the house and noticed an arrow sticking out of the side of our brand new home. It was only inches from our daughter’s bedroom window. We decided to contact the sheriffs office, so that they could try to figure out where the arrow had originated from. One of the Pender County sheriffs came out, And stated that she had never seen that before. She gathered the data, noted the direction from which the arrow must have come, etc. She also stated she really wasn’t sure which (other) questions to ask. However she did state that we should speak with other neighbors about the incident, in hopes that some data might arise. So we did. When we were talking with one of our neighbors, he informed us that there was a teenage boy behind his home, that had an archery target range set up in his backyard. The sheriff also stated that it may take a detective up to two weeks before they responded to our call/concerns. However, within two days a detective sergeant came to our home to begin the investigation. He went to the house where the suspected firing came from and spoke with one of the residents. He also asked one of his team members from the CSI group, to come out and remove the arrow and process it for fingerprints. The detective sergeant also got back in touch with us and informed us that the teenage boy did take responsibility for the firing of the arrow, into an occupied residence, however, it was unintentional. We are very pleased with our response from the sheriffs department and the quick handling of this incident. Since no one was injured from the arrow, we were unsure of how serious this incident would be investigated/handled. Well, in my honest opinion, this department could not have taken the incident any more seriously. We are VERY pleased with the quick response, and the professionalism exhibited by each and every member of the Pender County Sherriffs Office. Thanks again, for a “job well done.”"

"I phoned the Pender Co Sheriffs office this morning, 10/9/16 (post Hurricane Mathew's hit on the NC shores), as I could not get through to my Mom. I didn't think her area was hit as hard as many others, however as a daughter I was still somewhat worried. The gentleman/officer/dispatcher was greatly helpful, kind and professional. I knew they were busy, so I tried to keep it short, yet he took the extra minute to actually check her precise address and reassure that all was okay in her area.
