"Black Belt USA is an excellent choice if you're interested in learning a martial art, increasing your level of fitness, or even training to complete. The Kings are a husband and wife team who personally run the business and are hands-on helping their students achieve whatever goals they may have. I started Muay Thai many years ago while looking for something to get me into better shape and learn some self-defense techniques in the process. It was intimidating to walk in but the Kings made me feel welcome and took their time teaching me the basics while I steadily gained skill and confidence. After several years life got in the way and I stopped attending. But once my young son was old enough, I knew Black Belt USA would be the only school I would want him to be a part of. I enrolled him in Tae Kwon Do and just like I experienced, the Kings and their student teachers have challenged him but done so in a caring way to help him grow and gain his own confidence. They have such a great way with kids that you feel at ease as a parent. After a while I felt the itch to come back to Muay Thai. Now mind you I'm approaching AARP age at this point, but the beauty of this school is that it is everything for everyone. So while I'm there to keep father time a little further away, some of my peers in class are training for competitions, or progressing through the ranks to eventually become instructors themselves. We range in age from some in high school to those who are nearing retirement. But we're all there to achieve our own personal goals and create some lasting friendships while we're at it. I've been meaning to write this for quite some time as I do believe we have one of the best all-around martial arts schools right here in Charlotte. So if you want to get into shape or master TKD and/or Muay Thai, give BBUSA a try, you'll feel right at home!"

"I'm 65 years old and a cancer survivor of 2.5 years. I decided a few months ago to take a leap of faith and try something new, private Muay Thai lessons. I did research and decided to try one lesson with Grandmaster king and it was one of the best decision of my life! I'm currently taking two private lessons a week, each lesson is structured to my specific limitations and health concerns. Each lesson builds on the previous lesson and pushes me just a little further each week. I'm tired after each lesson but it's the best tired you can have with a real sense of accomplishment. "Black belt USA has been a second family to me for over 10 years. I started taking TKD classes in middle school as their after school program would come and pick me up from school or even home and take me to class. It was always so much fun as we had potlucks, parties, competitions home and away, and all the families merged together. Here they are not just martial arts classes, you truly become family with all the kids and their families and it also gave my parents a way to get involved in my life and helping out with others. I unfortunately moved in 2017 but I went back in 2023 to visit Master King as everyone as always kept in touch via social media and I truly miss them a lot! It’s really hard to find genuine individuals and Black Belt USA has set a standard. They have helped my family out during tough times even if it didn’t have anything to do with martial arts itself, and I believe a lot of my strength and courage has come from the instructors and friends I made during my time here.
