"I had my 15th Ketamine Therapy Infusion yesterday, December 13, 2023. I did the initial six infusions within the three weeks to complete them around this time last year. Then I had been doing once a month maintenance dosing, with yesterday's IV Therapy my 9th in succession. I have clinical depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder and am on Social Security Disability because of Acute Persistent Daily Migraines and other skeletal and GI problems. When I signed in for yesterday's treatment, my depression scale was at a 1(one). When I started the Therapy, it was at a 17 or so. Those numbers tell me two things: 1) the Ketamine treatment is indeed working with my brain chemistry to help lessen the paralyzing effects and vicious cycle of the depression. What I mean by paralyzing effects and vicious cycle is that depression can lead to isolation and keep me from getting out in this beautiful weather and walking and making friends where I live. (This transition from active ministry as a pastor to being disabled is rough.) Not only is the conclusion based on the medicinal benefits, but it is also because I feel great affinity for the staff at the Myrtle Beach Clinic . Specifically, Angel, the RN who administers the Intravenous Ketamine Infusion Therapy, has made me feel safe, welcomed, at ease and is very patient with me when the infusion therapy is finished, and I am waiting to get up to go home. I have never felt rushed or de-valued as a patient. The infusion on November 14, 2023, ended with nausea and vomiting. I didn't think to tell Angel and Tara about my pain management specialist changing one of my medications and how it could have affected the reaction to the Ketamine Therapy last month. In talking with Angel I misunderstood one of her questions. She asked me about what I could do preventatively to stop the nausea. I have a prescription for generic Phenergrin to help me when the daily migraine gets to a Level 8 and I feel intense nausea and vomit. I totally misunderstood her question asking me if I had ever done any preventative measures in regards to nausea rather than in regards to migraine prevention. I always tell Angel that she is my angel helping me to treat my depression, and as an added benefit, the Ketamine Therapy helps the migraine medicine work more effectively. Angel and I apologized to each other and asked forgiveness for how the escalation caused by a misunderstanding affected both of us. I have been hospitalized twice for intestinal obstructions in 2020. Deep down in my subconscious I associated the nausea with another potentially fatal colon obstruction. I had my Sigmoid Colon dissection weeks after my oldest brother died of sepsis The fervor of the hasty reaction had more to do with the trauma of my brother's death than anything or any way Angel replied to me. I have no doubt that Angel provides excellent professional care and in gentle, patient and compassionate manner. For those who read the previous post, please throw it in the garbage both literally and physically.. Sincerely, Tim Lijewski"
