"My mom had to be admitted to the hospital in January.. She was scared and did NOT want to go due to a bad experience at another ER. She is a hard worker and being away from our farm was SUPER hard for her - she definitely needed the help she got at y'all's facility. The doctors - nurses - even Kara at reception were all KIBD CARING and CONSIDERATE - This made all the difference - I recommend this hospital to ANYONE who has trouble - physical or mental - THEY CARE- Thank you for taking care of our mom."

"I've never been so disappointed in my life in a hospital. All entrances are closed off but the main entrance. There's nothing in the parking lot to make patients aware. I'm walking with a 2-year-old at 4 am in 24-degree weather. An employee informed me that they closed off all other entrances due to COVID. In my opinion, it's stupidity."

"You are just a number here. Just another bed to fill so that the hospital can charge Medicare. They will keep you for days and days unnecessarily, so that they can bill your insurance while nothing gets done and nothing is treated. There is no communication with physicians. The physicians intentionally make rounds at times when family members aren’t present to avoid talking to them. Most of the time, the physicians have not even reviewed the chart prior to rounding. Orders are missed. Medications are incorrect. Critical labs are ignored. No one follows-up. Unfortunately, it’s the only hospital in the area, so they know they can get away with providing poor care. “It’s better than nothing” is the new motto since Novant bought them. I strongly recommend that you go to any other hospital if you can make the drive to Raleigh, chapel hill, Durham. If you have no other options and must settle for this hospital, please be aware that you will have to advocate strongly for yourself to receive decent care. Make your concerns known to staff in a polite and persistent manner. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Definitely ask for the patient advocate as soon as possible to ensure that you receive treatment and are not ignored. The nurses are your life line. They handle pretty much everything, since the physicians are so hands-off. However the nurses are overworked, and most are travel nurses who don’t have loyalty or motivation to improve things at this hospital. So persistence and making your needs known is key - it’s the only way to get proper care at this Novant hospital. As a patient, you have the right to decent healthcare so please don’t forget that."
