"Dr Connelly and the nurses were amazing! My granddaughter has Type 1 diabetes, asthma and a long list of allergies to meds, latex and foods. She has the flu and was headed toward DKA very quickly. They treated my granddaughter with care and were very efficient taking care of her every need. The nurses were very good with calming her while putting the IV in place with no veins showing at all because of being dehydrated. I’m so thankful for the dedication and commitment to children that they take very seriously. Dr Scott Connelly is very knowledgeable about diabetes and the necessary care to keep a diabetic child healthy. I thank God he was assigned to us for this very scary visit."
"Had to take our 4 week old in due to a fever. Everything was fast paced, from check in to getting a room, getting treatment, and test results. Our nurse, Amanda was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable, made us feel comfortable and at ease every step of the way. Dr. Saad spent time talking to us and reviewing everything. We were very impressed with our experience and would recommend anyone to go here for pediatric emergency needs."
"This morning at 2 am I took my5 year old daughter to be seen for ear pain as she woke up crying and eyes and face swelling. We felt the Doctor who attended her did not really want to see her at all. Even the nurses. We have been here several times before but this is the first time we felt if they just wanted to get rid of us. With my daughter crying and had fever, they said nothing much is wrong just common cold and no infection; just give Tylenol and Motrin. As parents we both felt strongly she had an infection and needed more attention but we were not heard. Just told us to follow up with primary care doctor. When we saw the primary care later today we were told that she had infection with complications that damaged her ear drum which is why her ears are hurting. The tests that were done revealed flu-A. I am very disappointed with the attending doctor and her assistant at WakeMed Children’s ER this morning. With the amount of money we get charged for each visit I expect to get better service. If not above and beyond like others doctor’s and nurses should do their job at a minimum."
"Highly recommend! Had a great first experience for my 4 year old and me as a mama! From check-in to discharge, and everywhere in between, all of the staff was very kind, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. They listened to and addressed ALL of our concerns. Would not hesitate to go back again! Shout-out to Dr. Lopez for his kid friendliness and providing such great care and education for us! Top notch!"
"We had to take my daughter who was 2 weeks old at the time to the ER after calling the nurse line at our pediatrician. We went in around midnight going into a Sunday. She had rapid breathing which is concerning at such a young age. We were dismissed by the nurses and PA as being stupid for bringing our daughter in as everything else was okay (temp, eating normal, etc). The PA we had didn’t even put hands on my daughter and said her breathing rate was normal just by looking at her while she was wrapped in a blanket in my arms. The test for flu/covid/RSV came back negative so they sent us home and told us to see our pediatrician the following day for a follow up. Went to our pediatrician where the Dr actually put hands on her and listened to and watched her breathing and concluded she did in fact have rapid breathing and told us to go back to the ER and insist we get Xrays done. We did go back and had a better experience this time since our pediatrician told them we were coming and that she was concerned. X-rays came back clear, so they concluded it was a viral bug she had. All that to say we have to pay $400 in copays when one of the times the bare minimum was done. I contacted patient relations just to be told the request to not have to pay the $200 for the awful visit was declined. If this doesn’t show that all the healthcare industry cares about is money I don’t know what does. All I have to say is I learned you have to fight for your child with all it takes to be taken seriously."
