About the Business
The Pre-K Priority is a school located at 1200 South Broad Street in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States. Our mission is to ensure that all four-year-old children in Forsyth County have access to an affordable and high-quality Pre‑K program. Since our founding in 2014, we have been working to educate, engage, and mobilize the public and civic leaders to support the establishment of a comprehensive system of Pre‑K programs in the county.
Our institution collaborates with various community organizations and stakeholders to advocate for affordable, high-quality Pre‑K programs. We conduct research to assess the current state of Pre‑K in Forsyth County and provide recommendations for expansion. In 2019, we released a report outlining quality standards, projected costs, and a timeline for Pre‑K expansion.
The Pre-K Priority Steering Committee oversees the implementation of an expanded Pre‑K system in Forsyth County. We work to increase public support and involvement in advocating for high-quality Pre‑K programs. The Forsyth County Commissioners, City Council of Winston-Salem, and WS/FCS Board of Education have signed a resolution in support of forming an Early Childhood Education Task Force to further our goals.
Our commitment is to provide inclusive, joyful, and culturally responsive Pre‑K experiences that prepare children for success in school. We strive to eliminate disparities, achieve equity, and celebrate the diversity of our community. We value the input of parents and community members in shaping our programs and systems.
The Pre-K Priority is supported by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and works in partnership with various organizations such as Forsyth Technical Community College, United Way of Forsyth County, and Winston-Salem State University.
