Apple City BBQ

"I’ve been to many bbq places around the country (not including Texas yet) and this was by far the best brisket I have ever had. The fat was *perfectly* rendered, and both the flat and the fatty were extremely moist and tender. It passed the bend test and pull test flawlessly. The bark on the brisket was truly fantastic and I dream of making a brisket like this. It is worth it just for the brisket to come and try it for yourself. The pork ribs were literally fall of the bone tender (personally I prefer a bit of a bite to my ribs, but nonetheless they were insanely juicy and not overly smoky but definitely prominent in smoke flavor). Even the sides were fantastic: we had the Mac and cheese, baked beans (not your typical thick canned baked beans, but still delicious), green beans (honestly my favorite), the hush puppies, and the corn nuggets. The waitress that we had was very attentive and they were very cautious about mine and my mother’s gluten sensitivity (all the sauces are gluten free). The pitmaster came out to talk to us because I was raving about the brisket and wanted to ask a couple questions about his process. He was more then happy to talk to us and you could tell he was extremely passionate about his craft, which could definitely be tasted through his food. All in all amazing food and would definitely come back to eat this bbq."

"We saw a story from Our State Magazine about Apple City BBQ and decided to give it a try. My BBQ palette is eastern NC style BBQ, be we've come to like western NC also. When we arrived I was surprised how small it was. I ordered the small BBQ plate. Service was fast. Drinks are self serve (I kinda like that). The BBQ was good, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it. If you find yourself in the area, it's a great place to stop."

"The food is amazing and the service is super quick. Most places don't even offer pulled BBQ chicken and it was delectable. The coleslaw was one of the best I've ever had. The BBQ sauce they offer is amazing as well. They have 3 varieties 1 is vinegar based the other 2 are not one is sweet and the other is jalapeno. All are awesome. Will definitely be back to get more."

"This place was definitely a gem that I found. The atmosphere is like an old town dinner. They had indoor and outdoor seating which is nice on a pretty day. I highly recommend if you want good food for decent price. The menu wasn't overwhelming or extensive. Basic bbq place but had many awards on the wall. Bbq sliders and the brisket pimento cheese eggrolls were amazing. My son liked that he got 8 nuggets instead of 4 like most place."
