"Fun historic site. Easy to get to, lots of parking and they do tons of events throughout the year. The craft fair is our favorite. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable, property is beautiful and well kept."
"My daughter took me to the Historic Johnson Farm Candlelight Christmas. What a gift! Having grown up in Henderson County, I was instantly took back to my childhood and reminded so much of the years gone by. The authentic way in which the house has been preserved makes it such a wonderful treat to see. The tour guides shared such heartfelt stories, it was apparent that they were invested in the farm and its rich history. The Christmas decorations made an inviting and charming atmosphere. I appreciate the fact that we have such a place here in our county to enjoy. I look forward to returning again to other events that the farm hosts. A job well done by all who contributed."
"I need to be careful here. This is a non profit which survives off of donations. So my input will be to put forward improvements so this non profit can be stronger and continue doing what it’s attempting to do with beautiful grounds and wonderful people. My wife and I attended the “Candlelight” tour at Johnson Farms this past Sunday. The only thing “Candlelight” about it were fake battery operated flicker candles on various mantles in the historic brick house. Suggestions. Use volunteers to string some white Christmas lights out the back door and up the dark walkway to the brick house and from there to the.Boarding House. While they’re at it, have them frame the barn in white Christmas lights as well. Put some white Christmas lights on the porch of the Ed Center. Put some luminaries along the front sidewalk and in between the historic buildings. Give the guests some of those battery operated flicker candles to carry from building to building. Make it a true “Candlelight” tour. Get the chamber string quartet there an hour before the tours begin so guests arriving can enjoy it. Have softened Christmas music playing on the grounds and in the houses. Have the school students serving the cocoa and cookies dress in red with white shirts and dark slacks with Santa hats. Provide a small woolen coaster as a gift from the artisans at the Boarding House. A small tangible token encourages a larger purchase in the artisan gift shop. Have planning meetings with the tour guides so that they’re rehearsed, know their scripts and don’t repeat stories. There’s a lot of potential here which can be made a reality with more planning, some time, hundreds of dollars not thousands and the continued cooperation of the volunteers. We had a pleasant time. It’ll be even better with improvements. Go. Attend the Christmas evenings coming up. Support this heartfelt historic and educational foundation and beautiful location."
"Lovely place to visit in Henderson County. Free unless touring the house. The tour is $10 for adults and $8 for kids over 5. The tour itself is quite extensive for the price. Thank you for the experience ☺️"
