Holiday Inn Express & Suites Newport South, an IHG Hotel

"Absolutely loved this place for their no pet policy. Being highly allergic and also hating animal smells and pet hair, we were thrilled to find a hotel that does NOT allow pets! Plus, check-in was about 2 minutes tops. Fast and efficient with a very polite man. Clean rooms that actually smelled clean. Breakfast was hot and had several items. I would go back here anytime we are in the area."

"The main issue with my stay is that my reservation was cancelled before I arrived. I had received an email the day before our stay asking me to check in, which I did. After this online check in, I was able to add the reservation to my iPhone wallet. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk (who was very pleasant) told me that my reservation had been cancelled and he did not know why. Luckily, there was another room available, so it ended up not being a big issue but cancelling my reservation is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE. I would have been in a bad spot if there were no more rooms. The location of the hotel is very good as it is right off the highway. The hotel is going through some sort of update, but some of the work being done seems a bit half-a__. Before leaving, I went to the restroom in the lobby area and it was pretty disgusting. Obviously, it had not been cleaned or checked in at least a day or more. All in all a little disappointed."

"I’m surprised to see how commercial this Holiday Inn Franchise is. I paid a total of $165 to Hotel and $187 in total since i booked thru Priceline for one night, king suite. It’s not worth it. There are things which they can take care to improve customer satisfaction which they ignored totally just to save money. No full length towels, bathroom has some things that they can fix. Sanitizer in common areas not working and looks dirty. They have very cheap toilet paper. They are using refills of toiletries. I wonder they refill dove or something else in it. There are no window curtains, instead they are just using screen which is torn out and awkward, carpet has stains all over. Only positive I can tell is that their breakfast. Its not great but it is manageable. Overall, disappointed experience at this price point. I’m not trying to point out mistakes. At least my review can help others who are spending money for good stay. Please do comment if some has similar experience."

"We travel quite a bit and try to stay with Holiday Inn because in the past we have been very pleased. I don’t know if it’s the chain of hotels that has gone downhill but the last 2 times we have stayed with Holiday Inn Express there has been an issue. First was, it’s been over a month and I still have not been returned our $50 incidental fee from a different location. I have called that hotel personally and just get the run around. With that being said, I thought it was just an isolated incident. This time we stayed with a different location in a different state, that would be this location that I’m leaving the review for. The AC was so loud that every time it came on it woke us up. The shower would go from extremely hot to cold. There was water coming from underneath the bathroom wall. We paid close to $300 for one night and can’t get a decent night’s sleep or shower. Also, my husband is a veteran and served his country, but we were told that they don’t offer a discount for the weekend, this is something that has been offered in the past. That is so disappointing!!! Unfortunately, I think we will have to find a different place to stay when we travel."
